On December 21, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province announced an emergency situation regarding landslides and rockfalls at some residential areas in Tra Don commune, Nam Tra My district.

Accordingly, due to the impact of prolonged heavy rains and consecutive earthquakes in Kon Tum and Quang Nam provinces recently, many landslides and rockfalls have occurred in Tra Don commune, affecting the lives of 21 households and 1 village school.

In particular, on the top of Ngoc Mong mountain, about 500m from Tu Hon residential area (village 3), due to the impact of earthquakes on November 30 and December 1, dozens of large rocks rolled down but were blocked by vines and trees.

At the same time, the mountainside near the top has many boulders that are likely to continue rolling down if there is prolonged heavy rain or an earthquake, posing a danger to households below, traffic participants on Highway 40B and the road to Tu Hon village.

Cracks also appeared around the houses, so the risk of subsidence and damage to the houses is very high. Since September 2024, every time heavy rain occurs, these households have to evacuate.

Currently, households living in the above areas are very worried and insecure. Some households have proactively evacuated to other villages and do not dare to send their children to study at Tu Hon primary and kindergarten.
