Today (December 19), authorities of Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong provinces, along with relevant units, inspected the current landslide situation on National Highway 27C through Khanh Le Pass, Khanh Vinh District, to have a plan to ensure safe traffic.

On the pass, workers and machines are urgently clearing rocks and soil, while many cars and motorbikes are passing by. Authorities have regulated traffic, allowing vehicles to pass in batches and limiting heavy vehicles to ensure safety.

After a field survey, Mr. Nguyen Phuong Nam, Deputy Director of Road Management Area 3 (Vietnam Road Administration) said that up to now, Khanh Hoa Road Management and Construction Joint Stock Company has completed 10 landslide points, allowing one lane to be opened to traffic.

However, the geology at Km 43+400 where the landslide occurred is still very complicated. There are still many large rocks at the scene and the amount of mud and soil on the positive slope is still at risk of collapsing onto the road.

Mr. Nam said he would discuss thoroughly with the units and the two localities of Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong to ask for permission to close Khanh Le Pass for another 1-2 days. "This is to ensure safety, and at the same time give businesses time to focus on fixing the incidents at the landslide sites as soon as possible," Mr. Nam said.
