TUITION FEES ARE ALREADY HIGH, AND CONTINUE TO INCREASE

Many universities' tuition fees (HP) were high last year and continue to increase this year, for example, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy. According to the school's announcement, the HP for students admitted in 2024 ranges from 46 - 84.7 million VND/school year. Compared to the collection of the 2023 - 2024 school year, which is between 42.8 - 77 million VND/school year, the HP for all majors next year will increase. Of which, the major with the highest HP is dentistry - maxillofacial with 84.7 million VND/year (an increase of 7.7 million VND compared to the 2023 - 2024 school year). Next, the medical major collects 82.2 million VND/year (an increase of 7.4 million VND); the pharmaceutical major collects 60.5 million VND/year (an increase of 5.5 million VND). The remaining industries have salaries from 46 - 50 million VND/year, in which the public health industry has the lowest increase of 1 million VND.

Besides the health sector, law is also a field with high HP. Notably, in schools with many types of training programs, the HP of special programs is many times higher than that of general programs. For example, according to the announcement of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, the lowest HP for the 2024-2025 school year is over 35.2 million VND/year applied to the majors of law, international trade law, and business administration. Majors in high-quality regular training programs are up to 70.5 - more than 83 million VND/year. In particular, the high-quality training program of law taught in English is up to 165 million VND/year.

Similarly, schools in the Ho Chi Minh City National University system have also implemented an autonomous mechanism, with different HPs in training programs. The University of Technology stipulates that the HP for the standard program is only 29 million VND/year. For the transfer or Japanese-oriented program, the HP is up to 60 million VND/year. The programs taught in English, advanced, transfer and international linkage programs have higher HPs of up to 80 million VND/year. The University of Natural Sciences collects HPs for students admitted to the 2024 class from 24.7 - 59.6 million VND/year depending on the major and training program. Except for the above majors, the HPs for the remaining majors of the school range from over 21 - 60 million VND/year depending on the major and training program for this school year. Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry announced the tuition fee applicable to full-time university students in 2024 at different levels depending on the major. Specifically, the economic major is over 32.8 million VND/year; the technical technology major is 33.5 million VND/year; and the pharmaceutical major is over 53.5 million VND/year. The roadmap for increasing the tuition fee each year is a maximum of 10%. With this collection level, the school said it has built to ensure the provisions of the law on prices and the Government's regulations on the financial autonomy mechanism of public service units in Decree 97/2023.

According to the HP level for the 2024 - 2025 school year just announced by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, students of the 2024 course and specialized majors are 29 - 32 million VND/year; training programs in English and Vietnamese - Japanese are 49 - 58 million VND/year (2 semesters).

Ton Duc Thang University's standard program tuition fee at the Ho Chi Minh City campus is on average about 27 - 31.6 million VND/year (Vietnamese Studies alone charges 50.1 million VND/year and Pharmacy 60.7 million VND/year). Tuition fees for majors at Khanh Hoa Branch range from 20.5 - 24 million VND/year. Which school and major has the lowest tuition fee?

In addition, the tuition fees for some majors that are difficult to recruit at autonomous universities are also quite flexible. For example, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University) applies a fee of over 14 million VND/year for majors in philosophy, religious studies, history, geography, information - library, archival studies, and anthropology. According to the list of HP collection levels announced by Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, the 2024-2025 school year for the 2024 undergraduate enrollment course is 863,000 VND/theoretical credit and 1.1 million VND/practical credit. Master Pham Thai Son, Director of the school's Admissions and Communications Center, said that students admitted to the 2024 enrollment course pay an average of 28 - 36 million VND/year and will not increase throughout the entire course.

Private school: There are 20 million majors,

If public tuition fees are determined according to the maximum tuition ceiling prescribed by the Government for each type of school and training field, private schools are autonomous in deciding on tuition fees.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, the average tuition fee for each major is about 18 - 19 million VND/semester (for pharmacy and medical laboratory technology, it is about 20 - 21 million VND/semester). Each year, the school trains 3 semesters, the tuition fee ranges from 54 - 63 million VND/year (for majors sponsored by corporate scholarships, the average tuition fee is about 36 - 39 million VND/year).

Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance trains 4 semesters per year, with an average of 20 - 22 million VND per semester (including 6 English levels). Thus, the average HP per year is from 80 - 88 million VND.

Like public schools, private schools have particularly high tuition fees in the health sciences. For example, Nguyen Tat Thanh University charges tuition fees ranging from 21 to 61 million VND for all majors, with medical science charging 152 million VND per year and dentistry charging up to 183 million VND per year.

Hong Bang International University charges 180 million VND/year for medical and dental majors, while the remaining majors charge 35 - 80 million VND/year.
