(Dan Tri) - Depending on the collection level of each locality, parents are exempted from paying from 8,000 to 340,000 VND/month.
On February 28, the Politburo agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) on exempting tuition fees for preschool students from 3 months to 4 years old and high school students.
Thus, along with the current policy of exempting tuition fees for public school students from 5-year-old preschool to the end of secondary school, all preschool children and students at all remaining levels at public educational institutions will also be exempted from tuition fees.
Students at private schools will be compensated for tuition fees equal to those of public schools according to the law. The difference in tuition fees between public and private schools will be paid by the student's family.
Depending on the tuition fee level of each locality, parents are exempted from paying different amounts of tuition each month.
At the preschool level, there are 3 provinces that charge the lowest tuition fee of under 10,000 VND/month, including Dak Nong, Lai Chau and Son La. Accordingly, these three provinces only charge 8,000 VND/month for preschool children in mountainous areas and the highest is 38,000 VND/month for children in urban areas.
Meanwhile, at high school level, Son La collects the highest at 52,000 VND/month, Dak Nong collects the highest at 45,000 VND/month and Lai Chau collects the highest at 35,000 VND/month.
Many provinces and cities have tuition fees for middle and high schools under 100,000 VND/month for urban students, such as: Bac Kan, Bac Lieu, Ben Tre, Binh Phuoc, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Ca Mau, Can Tho, Dak Lak, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Gia Lai, Hau Giang, Hoa Binh, Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Soc Trang...
The highest tuition fees are in the provinces of Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Tay Ninh, Binh Dinh, and Hanoi.
Of which, Bac Giang leads the country in tuition fees with 340,000 VND/month for urban students. Next are Bac Ninh and Tay Ninh with 300,000 VND/month.
For the same urban group, Hanoi collects 217,000 VND/month for high school level while Binh Dinh collects a little lower at 200,000 VND/month.
Thus, if the policy of free tuition for public students nationwide is applied, parents will not have to pay the above amount.
At the same time, according to Circular 29 on extra teaching and learning, parents do not have to pay for extra classes at school.
As for other educational service costs such as boarding, after-school childcare, artistic and sports training, etc., parents still have to contribute according to the fee schedule prescribed by each locality.
