France According to former tennis player Alex Corretja, the Roland Garros semi-final between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz will be difficult to predict because of the high form of the two players.

Corretja, a two-time Roland Garros finalist, said Djokovic must rely more on experience, while Alcaraz needs to control his emotions to achieve victory in the upcoming semi-final.

"Alcaraz will have a hard time, because it's not easy to face someone with such high stability like Djokovic," Corretja said in a commentary with Eurosport on June 7. "Djokovic will like long rallies at the end of the court, so Alcaraz will have to wait patiently for his chance. This could be the best match of the year and the whole season."

Corretja believes that his compatriot likes to play fair and freely, but needs to be more pragmatic when playing against Djokovic. Corretja advises Alcaraz not to be greedy for winning points but to help each other with each shot.

"Djokovic will rely heavily on his serve and will play as deep as possible," Corretja added. "Alcaraz has more variety, while Djokovic is more experienced in controlling the tempo. Ferrero's role is very important. A great coach will help Alcaraz overcome the most difficult match of the year."

Alcaraz and Djokovic will meet for the first time in a Grand Slam match on the evening of June 9. The Serbian is on his way to a record 23rd Grand Slam, while Alcaraz is aiming for his second title since the 2022 US Open. They both dropped just one set en route to the Roland Garros semi-finals.

Tomorrow's semi-final is not only like an early final, but also has a big impact on the ATP rankings. Alcaraz will be sure to defend the world number one position after Roland Garros, if he beats Djokovic. The Spaniard will lose the top spot to the Serbian if Nole wins his third Grand Slam on clay.
