(Dan Tri) - Carlos Alcaraz caused a big disappointment in the third round of the Paris Masters when the Spanish player was defeated by his opponent Ugo Humbert with a score of 6-1, 3-6, 7-5.
World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz was forced to bow out of the Paris Masters after losing to Frenchman Ugo Humbert in a dramatic three-set match early this morning (November 1). Humbert, ranked 18th in the world, won 6-1, 3-6, 7-5, marking his first victory over the Roland Garros and Wimbledon champion.

The match did not go smoothly for Alcaraz, who was down 5-0 in the first set before he could even score. Humbert has won titles in Marseille and Dubai this season and is in good form heading into the final Masters 1000 event of the year.
"I'm really proud of myself for doing that. It was a crazy game, a crazy atmosphere," Humbert said.
Humbert said he went all out in the first set, which left him feeling low on energy in the second set and cornered in the third. However, he believed in himself and hit decisive shots to win.
As for Alcaraz, the Spaniard has endured a turbulent second half of the season since his heartbreaking loss to Novak Djokovic in the Paris Olympics final. He was eliminated in the second round of the US Open and has had inconsistent performances at other major tournaments.
With this victory, Humbert will face Jordan Thompson for a place in the semi-finals of the Paris Masters. Thompson, ranked 28th in the world, reached the quarter-finals of a Masters event for the first time after defeating Adrian Mannarino of France 7-5, 7-6.

In a post-match press conference at the Paris Masters, world number two Carlos Alcaraz admitted that he may have been affected by the impressive form of his opponent Ugo Humbert. Alcaraz, a four-time winner of ATP Tour events in Spain, was unable to overcome the Frenchman in a tense three-set match.
"I think I could have played better. But with the level I had today, I competed and gave my all. I fought until the last point. I have to congratulate Humbert. His performance was really high. The way he hit the ball was unbelievable," said Alcaraz.
Alcaraz also admitted that Humbert raised his level every time he played against him. "He plays tennis at a really high level. I think in Paris even higher. So congratulations to Humbert and good luck," Alcaraz added.
Despite not liking the fast conditions at the Paris Masters, Alcaraz said it didn't matter if there wasn't an opponent who could exploit them. Humbert showed impressive form with clean shots, giving Alcaraz trouble from the very first set.
"It's difficult when I play with someone like Humbert, who doesn't let you get into the rhythm of the game. He probably always plays at 100 percent. So I can't play well," Alcaraz said.
Alcaraz also expressed surprise at the indoor conditions in Paris, despite having trained at home. "I wasn't surprised by my level, by my playing style, but I was a little surprised by the conditions," he admitted.

The match between Alcaraz and Humbert was not only exciting on the court but also created a lively atmosphere in the stands. Although not receiving the biggest support when facing a French player, Alcaraz still had many compliments for the home fans.
"I had a lot of success in Paris, so I guess a lot of the fans supported me a little bit. I had some really great points when they were cheering me on. They stood up, clapped for the points I won. So I appreciated that and the fans were really respectful to the athletes. It was a good match," Alcaraz said.
