Grigor Dimitrov had an excellent week in Paris as the Bulgarian beat a host of strong players including Daniil Medvedev, Hubert Hurkacz and Stefanos Tsitsipas to reach the final of the Masters 1000 tournament at the end of the year, but unfortunately he was not good enough to beat Novak Djokovic.

The Serbian player won 6-4, 6-3 after 98 minutes to win the Paris Masters for the 7th time and increase the number of Masters 1000 titles to 40. This was also the 10th consecutive match that Dimitrov lost to Djokovic, the Bulgarian player has only won one match against Nole after 13 matches (1-12).
The chance to win his first major title in 6 years (ATP Finals 2017) passed by Dimitrov, which made the veteran Bulgarian extremely disappointed, he burst into tears while waiting for the award and had to continuously wipe his tears with a towel. Realizing that, Djokovic proactively went to hug and comfort his opponent.

"I'm sorry about the result today, Dimitrov," Djokovic said to the Bulgarian. "It's never easy to lose a final. I hope you stay strong and keep going, because you've been playing your best this week and the last few months."
"Congratulations to the team and his family. It's a pleasure to share the field today. We've come a long way, we're veterans of the tournament now. We're the new generation, the 30+ generation or whatever you want to call it."

After moments of disappointment, Dimitrov regained his composure and thanked the audience for cheering him on throughout the week.
"I want to say how grateful I am for everything that has happened this week. The last three months have been a rollercoaster for me. Reaching the final of the Paris Masters means more than I could have ever imagined. It wouldn't have been possible without everyone's support this past week," said the Bulgarian.
