Free screening for disabled children in Bac Quang and Bac Me districts

BHG - On March 31, a working delegation from Center II - Directly supporting children with disabilities under the Vietnam Association for the Relief of Disabled Children coordinated with the Provincial General Hospital and the Provincial Social Work Center to organize screening for children with disabilities in Bac Quang and Bac Me districts.

Accordingly, the delegation organized free screening for children aged 0-16 years old, suffering from disabilities, facial deformities, urinary tract, motor system disabilities, post-burn sequelae and eye, ear-nose-throat disabilities; checked the results after surgery in previous years and made a list of disabled children after examination with indications for surgery in the next round. At the same time, they guided and shared experiences with health station staff in communes and towns in the area on how to initially identify people with disabilities and types of disabilities to serve the self-screening and classification of disabled subjects at the facility, in order to help make a list of disabled children who are the right subjects of the screening program.

The screening program for children with disabilities in the districts aims to detect disabilities in children early, thereby supporting early surgery to restore function for children with disabilities, helping children overcome inferiority complexes, integrate into the community, improve their lives, create opportunities for children with disabilities and families with difficult circumstances to move conveniently and reduce travel costs. In the following days, the delegation will conduct screening in the remaining districts in the province.
