His scene in The Marvels is only a few seconds long but it's a big scene so it was filmed elaborately and the makeup took a long time.
Previously, he had a small role in the movie Doctor Strange (2016) which is also part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In Doctor Strange, Tien Hoang appeared for a few seconds in the scene at the Kamar-Taj temple, when the main character Stephen Strange (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) was observing the Ancient Master (Tilda Swinton) teaching magic to two students.
One of the two is played by Tien Hoang and his face is clearly shown for a second. He also appears in the same frame with actress Tilda Swinton.
Some time after Doctor Strange was released in theaters, Tien Hoang was mentioned in the Vietnamese press.
He revealed that he was lucky to have a friend who knew the action director of the film. Thanks to this film, he continued to have luck with other Hollywood films.
Tien Hoang was born in 1993 in Hanoi and moved to London (UK) with his family when he was 11 years old. He studied Shaolin martial arts in England and pursued a career as an action actor. He had his first role in the Indian action film Yamla Pagla Deewana.
Starting from supporting roles, Tien Hoang gradually had more prominent roles in Hollywood films. These are: Doctor Strange, Ready Player One, Star Wars: Han Solo, The Covenant, The Witcher, and later The Marvels.
In 2021, he starred in the Vietnamese action film Martial Arts, but the film was not successful at the box office. Currently, Tien Hoang is still looking for acting opportunities in international films.
