The competition was attended by 11 teams from 11 communes and towns in Giong Rieng district with 110 members including militia soldiers, union members, and women's union members. The teams went through 2 rounds including making cakes (10 banh tet, 50 banh it), decorating fruit trays, and giving presentations.

Vice President of the Women's Union of Kien Giang Province Nguyen Thi Hoa Hiep said that this is the seventh year the unit has coordinated to organize a contest on wrapping and cooking banh tet on the occasion of the military-civilian Tet in the province and the third year to organize a contest to celebrate Chol Thnam Thmay. Wrapping and cooking banh tet is one of the activities that embody the traditional beauty of Tet of the Southern people. Through these activities, it contributes to propagating, educating, mobilizing to preserve and promote the fine traditions of the Vietnamese people...

The contest also strengthens military-civilian solidarity, creates close relationships between cadres, union members, and members, between military and civilians in localities and units, and national solidarity.
