On Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21), we are very happy that on April 9, we brought Dang Thuy Tram Bookcase to Hon Nghe Island.

Here, Hon Nghe Primary and Secondary School coordinated with the island's border guards to organize a very respectful and thoughtful ceremony to receive the Dang Thuy Tram Bookcase.

This is the third time we have brought the bookcase with the image of the heroic martyr - Doctor Dang Thuy Tram to the remote islands in the southernmost part of the country: Tho Chu island, Hai Tac archipelago, Hon Nghe island. The primary and secondary school students on those islands now have good books to read.

Hon Nghe Primary and Secondary School is located on Hon Nghe Island - an island commune in Kien Luong District, Kien Giang Province. It is located about 20 km from the mainland and takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes by boat. Hon Nghe Primary and Secondary School consists of 3 levels: preschool, primary and secondary with a total of 11 classes and more than 300 students.

Regarding the library, the school has a library with an area of 56 m2 , equipped with 4 computers, reading tables, comics, and science books. However, the quantity is still small and the content is not diverse.

Ceremony to receive Dang Thuy Tram Bookcase

The ceremony to receive the Dang Thuy Tram Bookcase was sent to us in photos by the school and the border guards. We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the border guards who helped us receive and deliver books to schools on all three islands. We hope that when we have this information, many readers will support good books for young students on islands far from the mainland. The lives of the people on those islands are still difficult, the students have libraries but lack good books to read.

During the handover of the Dang Thuy Tram Bookcase to Hon Nghe Island, we thanked a number of overseas Vietnamese intellectuals in Paris (France) for their enthusiastic support of this very practical and far-sighted reading project.

We believe that in the near future, there will be many Dang Thuy Tram Bookcases coming to the remote islands of the Fatherland that still have many difficulties. All for the students, for the young generation today, and also for the future of the country.
