At noon on April 10, Coach Van Sy Son announced that his student Vu Tien Long had undergone a successful surgery. The former U23 Vietnam player underwent surgery in Ho Chi Minh City with a team of familiar sports doctors.

With the surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament of his left leg, Vu Tien Long will be off the field for at least 8 months. The central defender of Quang Nam Club will say goodbye to the 2024-2025 season and will have to wait until December 2025 to recover.

It is important that the player undergoes physical therapy following a treatment plan after surgery, and is closely monitored by a doctor.

Long was injured in the 2-2 draw between The Cong - Viettel Club and Quang Nam in round 17 of V-League 2024-2025. He was hurt after an unusual landing in the midfield area.

Coach Van Sy Son said that the poor quality of My Dinh Stadium was part of the reason why Vu Tien Long was seriously injured. "I am very sorry that my student was seriously injured," said the coach from Nghe An.

Vu Tien Long was born in 2002 and was called up to the Vietnam U23 team. In the 2024-2025 season, Tien Long moved from Hanoi Club to Quang Nam to play. He played 13 matches, including 11 starting matches.

Long’s injury continues to make My Dinh Stadium the focus of public outrage. Previously, Hoang Anh Gia Lai player Pham Ly Duc also had to sit out the match due to a grade 2 ligament sprain due to the My Dinh Stadium grass.
