At the premiere of the film Tunnels: Sun in the Dark in Hanoi, Ho Thu Anh revealed that although she is a native of Hanoi and speaks with a Northern accent, she was determined to participate in the project as soon as she heard about this special film.
“Since I saw the casting information, I was determined to get this role and kept that thought until the end of the project to express the spirit of a female guerrilla. My greatest luck was meeting and living with veteran uncles and aunts, who “ignited” my understanding that war is not only about bombs and bullets but also about humanity, comradeship and love,” the 9X actress shared.
After 20 auditions in 4 months, Ho Thu Anh finally received the nod from director Bui Thac Chuyen. But that was just the beginning of the hard training process before the film started filming. She had to lose 8-9kg during the “martial law” period, fasting and maintaining her physical strength.
Every day, Ho Thu Anh wakes up at 5am to swim, dive and breathe underwater for an hour, then continues to train for 1.5 hours. The rest of the day is spent rehearsing and training right on the filming set of Tunnels: Sun in the Dark. “After the movie ended, I tried to practice again but couldn’t do it anymore,” she shared.

Ho Thu Anh admitted that she was lucky to experience most of the scenes in the film, from tunneling, bomb explosions, underwater fighting to being flooded. She confided that it was her will to make the film complete and recreate the spirit of the guerrillas of the past that helped her overcome all challenges.
With that effort and belief, she portrayed a Ba Huong who was honest, simple but resilient, and at the same time still full of femininity with a burning desire for love (photo). Tunnel: Sun in the Dark became an important milestone in her journey of maturity, from a model to cinema.
Possessing a strong Asian beauty and a cool, individual style, Ho Thu Anh entered acting through famous MVs such as Lac troi (Son Tung M-TP), Sau tat ca (Erik), Nuoc mat em lau bang tinh yeu moi (Da LAB ft. Toc Tien)... before having her first leading role - Dong May in Sai Gon trong con mua . Transforming into a worldly, pragmatic girl, she revealed her acting potential, but it was 3 years later that she had her second role - star Kim Khanh in Fanti.
However, it was with Going Towards Fire that Ho Thu Anh really made a strong impression thanks to her dedication. The role of Thanh Ha was a big challenge, as she was the only female member of the fire brigade. Even though she was an actress, Ho Thu Anh still had to undergo rigorous training to fully transform into the character. Knowing that it would be difficult, she still put all her determination into it, wanting to challenge herself and explore her limits.
Seizing every opportunity, Ho Thu Anh gradually accumulated valuable experiences. She admitted that she was first known as a fashionista, but she wanted the audience to remember her more as an actress. Because for her, acting brings a completely different experience - escaping from everyday life to live fully in another life.
