A parent whose child just graduated from Vinh Tuy Primary School (Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi) said that on May 29, she brought her child's application to Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted to register her child for the 6th grade entrance exam, but was shocked when her child's "all 10s" report card was rejected.

A student with a perfect score of 10 still lacks the qualifications to take the entrance exam to grade 6 at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.

According to her report card, her child was awarded "good completion" in grade 1 and "excellent completion" in the remaining 4 years. Of the 17 final exam scores, her child had 15 10s and only 2 9s, for a total of 168/170 points. According to the admission guidelines of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, primary school students must score 167 points or higher to be eligible to take the exam.

However, the student's application with 168 points was rejected because the first grade art subject was only recorded as "completed" in the transcript.

This parent said that when she received the feedback, she was "shocked" because she was previously very confident that her child was qualified to take the exam when most of her report cards had 10s.

Another parent whose child had just completed primary school in Cau Giay District (Hanoi) also said that her child was eliminated from the application review round for the same reason. Although her total score was 167 for all 5 years of primary school, her physical education subject in grade 2 was only commented as "completed" in her report card, even though her report card was generally rated as "completed well".

It is known that dozens of parents are upset because their children are not allowed to take the entrance exam to grade 6 at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted for the same reason. Although the general assessment is marked as "good completion" or "excellent completion", some subjects are assessed with comments as "complete".

A parent whose child just graduated from Vinh Tuy Primary School said that she represented a group of parents and sent an email to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, hoping that the department would consider and guide parents in the same situation to submit their application on time.

According to the 6th grade admission plan of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted approved and announced by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training last April, students must achieve 167 points out of 17 final exams of the school year, which means they can only get a maximum of 3 9 points at the primary level, the rest must all achieve 10 points, to pass the preliminary round of school records to enter the entrance exam round (3 subjects: math, literature, English) to enter the school.

That is, for subjects assessed by scores, for subjects or educational activities assessed by comments according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (fine arts, music, physical education...), students must be assessed as "completed well" or higher.

Thus, students who score 167/170 points or higher are not enough, but each subject as mentioned above must be evaluated as "completed well" or higher to be able to enter the very "fierce" qualifying round, taking place on June 23.
