Psychology "surpasses" medicine and dentistry
By the end of August 19, universities training in the health sector (excluding the military and police) had announced the admission scores for 2024.
Surprisingly, medicine has lost its decades-long lead in benchmarks. In its place has come a new, unfamiliar name: psychology.
Specifically, the admission score to Hanoi Medical University in 2024 is highest in psychology in block C00 (combined literature, history, geography) with 28.83 points. This is the first time Hanoi Medical University has recruited this major, and also the first time it has recruited using block C00. The score of 28.83 leads the list among medical schools.
Coming next is the benchmark score for the traditional medical combination B00 (physics, chemistry, biology) at Hanoi Medical University with 28.27 points. The maxillofacial major dropped to third place, with 27.67 points.
However, what is also noteworthy is that the highest score to enter these medical schools if candidates apply to a series of pedagogical and social science schools... still fail.
The highest admission score for the C00 block belongs to the majors of literature and history education at Hanoi National University of Education, which requires 29.3 points, or nearly 9.77 points per subject, to be admitted. Next, the admission score for the major of primary education at the University of Education - Ho Chi Minh City National University is 28.89 points.
Similarly, a series of social science majors also have high admission scores exceeding 28.83 points. For example, the Diplomatic Academy has a C00 score for Chinese studies (29.2) and international communications (29.05).
Admission scores to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City are high: public relations (29.1), Korean (29.05), journalism (29.03)...
On forums, many people expressed their concerns about the benchmark scores for block C00 and the pedagogy and social sciences majors being dramatically higher, far exceeding the benchmark scores for other majors. Many even expressed their opinions: "Times change. When pedagogy fails, society will return to medicine and pharmacy."
The above concerns are also concerns when the admission standards between majors are not uniform.
Public school benchmarks rise
Looking back at the overall benchmark scores for health majors in 2024, most of the admission rates at public schools increased.
Some schools have benchmark scores for dentistry that also surpass the medical group. Typically, the benchmark score of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Danang University is the highest at 25.57 points for dentistry.
Similarly, Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy has a benchmark score ranging from 19.5 to 26.35 points. This score is slightly higher than last year when the school accepted 19.05 to 26 points.
Of which, the major with the highest standard score is dentistry with 26.35 points. The medical major has the second highest standard score with 26.25 points. The pharmaceutical major has the third highest standard score with 24.75 points.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy announced that the benchmark scores have increased in most majors, the highest being medicine with 27.8 points. The major with an equally high benchmark score is dentistry with 27.35 points.
Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy has a benchmark score of 19.2-25.7. The benchmark score for medicine is 25.7 points, followed by dentistry at 25.65 points, and pharmacy at 24.78 points. Last year, the school had a benchmark score of 20-25.52 points.

Hai Duong Medical Technical University announced the admission scores for 5 training majors at 19-25.4 points. The highest score is for medicine, the lowest is for nursing.
Medical laboratory technology, medical imaging technology, and rehabilitation technology take 20-20.5 points.
Of which, 4/5 industries have higher growth rates compared to 2023. Last year, medicine alone took 24.5 points, other industries all took 19 points.
