Scores increase evenly across blocks
Commenting on the exam scores, Mr. Tran Manh Tung, a math teacher in Hanoi, said that this year, the 10-point score fluctuated in the subjects of civics, chemistry, history, and geography.
Specifically, the number of 10-point exams in chemistry, geography and history has increased dramatically. Of which, chemistry has 1,278 absolute scores while in 2023 there were only 137 10-point exams.
Similarly, if in 2023 there were only 789 history exams with a score of 10, this year it increased to 2,108.
Geography also had 3,175 candidates scoring 10 points this year, an increase of more than 90% compared to last year (35 students).
On the contrary, the number of candidates scoring 10 points in civic education has decreased sharply, with only 3,661 candidates nationwide scoring 10 points, while in 2023, over 14,600 candidates scored 10 points.
In general, most subjects with scores above 5 increased. Along with that, the rate of university admission based on graduation scores also decreased. This predicts that the 2024 benchmark score will increase.

Mr. Tran Manh Tung predicts that in block (combination) A00 (math, physics, chemistry) and D01 (math, literature, English), the benchmark score may increase by 0.5-1 point.
The benchmark scores for block A01 (math, physics, English) and B00 (math, chemistry, biology) may increase by 0.2-0.5 points. The benchmark score will increase the most in block C00 (literature, history, geography) by 0.5-1.5 points.
Sharing the same opinion, Mr. Dinh Duc Hien, Vice Principal of FPT Bac Giang Primary, Secondary and High School, shared that the score distribution of traditional exam blocks such as A, B, A1, C, D all shifted to the right, the average and median scores both increased compared to 2023.
At the same time, universities now have proactively implemented many enrollment plans, causing the enrollment quota based on high school graduation exam scores to decrease.
Therefore, Mr. Hien predicts that the benchmark scores of the groups are unlikely to decrease, and the top schools will remain the same or increase slightly compared to 2023.

In particular, the benchmark scores for blocks A, B, A1 will increase by 0.25-1 point. Blocks C, D may increase by 0.5-2 points depending on the school. Mr. Hien even predicted that the benchmark scores for blocks C, D at some schools may fluctuate strongly because a very large score will come when candidates change their wishes.
For medical schools, this is the group of schools with the fewest admission methods, quite traditional when mainly recruiting students through group B. For top schools in group B, the benchmark score is unlikely to decrease, it may increase slightly by 0.15-0.5 points. The middle and lower top schools will increase by about 0.5-1 point.
Be careful when registering your wishes.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc, Chairman of the Council of the University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, assessed that the score distribution of the social science exam, especially the subjects of literature and geography, had a high rate of excellent scores and low rate of below average scores.
Meanwhile, natural science subjects such as mathematics and physics still have a higher rate of below average scores than other subjects. Therefore, he believes that the orientation of exams and university admissions in natural science groups needs to be paid more attention and focus.
However, overall, he still assessed the exam results objectively.
"On a common knowledge level nationwide, this year's score range is completely reliable and can be trusted so that universities can have a common level for university admissions," said Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Son, Principal of Hanoi National University of Education, assessed that this year's exam preparation work was relatively even and that new exam preparation technologies could gradually be approached.
However, Mr. Son still hopes that the exam questions in the following exams will be more uniform, without much difference between the exam scores of the subjects. This will create a common ground to easily evaluate the quality of teaching and learning.
Instructing candidates, Mr. Tran Manh Tung pointed out mistakes when registering their wishes such as: following personal interests and inspirations, being forced by parents to choose according to family traditions, following friends' persuasion, being too dependent on the family's economic conditions...

He emphasized that choosing a school should be based on one's own abilities, strengths and long-term commitment.
"The effective way to register your wishes is that candidates need to choose a major first and then choose a school. Candidates need to refer to the benchmark scores of majors in the past 3 or 4 years and register in 3 groups to ensure the possibility of being admitted," Mr. Tung said.
In which, group 1 is the group of wishes that I really like, the benchmark scores of previous years can be 1-3 points higher than my current score. Group 2 is the right wish and equivalent to my score. Group 3 is for backup, the wishes that match my ability and passion and have benchmark scores lower than my score.
According to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, from July 18 to 5:00 p.m. on July 30, candidates can start registering, adjusting, and adding university admission wishes an unlimited number of times.
