According to The Gamer , in an interview with Kinda Funny Games, Diablo IV GM Rod Fergusson revealed how Blizzard is handling the new game with an eye toward longevity by delivering new seasonal content on a regular basis, in addition to bringing at least two expansions to fans.
Diablo IV has two expansions in development.
Accordingly, Rod Fergusson said that the company always has to build everything in parallel. Currently, while the main game is officially launched, his team has completed season 1 and is developing season 2 for the game. Besides, Blizzard is also working on the first expansion, and starting development for the second expansion.
Fergusson didn't say exactly what the expansion will bring, but fans can expect new lands, new villains, and possibly even new classes to play as. Diablo IV currently doesn't have a Crusader/Paladin, Monk, or Witch Doctor class, all of which could potentially appear in a future expansion.
Blizzard's main focus right now is on fixing bugs and balancing issues before the official launch. Over the weekend, Blizzard released a balance patch that nerfed Barbarians, adjusted Druids, buffed Necromancers and Rogues, and nerfed Sorcerers.
