Cut funding after May 30 for slow-moving maintenance projects

Many sections of Highway 51 are currently damaged and degraded.

The criticized units mainly failed to complete the construction drawing design work, were slow to deploy bidding for construction packages for one-step design projects, and did not fully update data on the disbursement software.

Notably, the disbursement rate by the end of March only reached 4.64% of the estimate.

The Department of Roads requires investors and project management boards to urgently speed up progress. For one-step design projects, contractor selection must be completed and construction contracts signed before April 30. For two-step design projects, construction drawing approval must be completed before April 20 and construction bidding organized before May 30.

After May 30, the Department will cut capital from slow-progressing projects to transfer to projects with better disbursement capabilities.
