The official Literature test of this year's exam closely follows the structure of the reference test announced by the Ministry of Education and Training. According to Dr. Trinh Thu Tuyet, Literature teacher, HOCMAI Education System, Part I. Reading comprehension (3 points) includes 4 questions classified according to cognitive levels. The first two questions (questions 1 and 2) are both questions that stop at the level of recognition of a detail that already exists in the text content, which is the type of question that helps students easily achieve the maximum score.
Question 3 is a question that requires students to apply their knowledge of Vietnamese, literature, art and life to interpret the expressive and emotional value of the comparison between the flow of the river and the history of artistic creation in the excerpt. When having a certain understanding of nature, life, literature..., candidates can completely analyze and point out the continuity, inheritance, and change from the flow of the river to the history of artistic creation when the following river sections continue the flow, alluvium, and water color from the previous river sections and reach out to the shores that the previous river sections only wished for, or even never thought of - this is a question that requires depth of thinking and experience.
Question number 4 is a high-level application question, requiring candidates to draw a lesson about lifestyle for themselves from the author's reflection in the excerpt: " If we separate each drop of water from the unity of the ocean, we will only see small, lonely drops of water that gradually disappear ." Candidates will not have difficulty finding messages and lessons for their own lifestyle, which is a lesson about meaningful existence when connecting individuals with the community.
"This is a question that can classify students relatively well when the answer direction and reasoning depend a lot on the students' independent thinking and self-control. In general, the reading comprehension questions are suitable for students, ensuring the right cognitive levels and having practical meaning" - Dr. Trinh Thu Tuyet commented.
Part II - Writing (7.0 points) retains the familiar structure, including 2 parts: Writing a social argumentative paragraph (2.0 points) and a literary argumentative essay (5.0 points).
Question 1 (2.0 points): The command has provided complete and accurate specific requirements for candidates to be able to write a paragraph of about 200 words about an aspect of the problem drawn from the excerpt of the reading comprehension section.
The requirement of writing a social argumentative essay can more or less create surprise and excitement for candidates when doing the test, when asking them to discuss " the meaning of respecting individuality " - the issue of respecting differences, respecting individuality and independent thinking has long been emphasized in lectures or discussion topics, but in reality, it is still a frustration for many people in daily life.
It can be seen that this is not a new question but quite practical, creating excitement for students who are preparing to enter a new threshold, where they must demonstrate their personal capacity and courage, expressing their own personality on the journey to success.
Question 2 (5.0 points): With the model of literary argumentative questions completely unchanged from the exam from 2017 to present in terms of genre, volume of argumentative materials, argumentative requirements, etc., candidates can learn a lot from previous exams, so it is not surprising and very familiar to candidates.
Candidates can simultaneously analyze the combination of Nguyen Khoa Diem’s emotions and thoughts in the poem while perceiving the content and artistic values of the poem, or separate it into two coherent arguments as required by the topic. The knowledge and skills of analyzing, perceiving, evaluating… in a literary essay are not difficult for students, after they have gone through a long journey of studying, reviewing and practicing.
In general, according to teachers, the Literature exam ensures the correct requirements on content and form of a high school graduation exam.
“Starting next year, following the learning and testing methods of the 2018 Education Program, with materials other than textbooks, we hope that the Literature exam in the 2025 High School Graduation Exam will bring a lot of excitement, challenges and opportunities for candidates who love literature, are eager to learn, explore, have independent thinking, and do not like to follow the beaten path,” Dr. Trinh Thu Tuyet expressed.
