On the afternoon of April 6, the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam coordinated with the Hai Phong Department of Foreign Affairs and related units to organize the award ceremony of the final round of the ROBOTACON First Lego League 2025 playground with the participation of more than 700 students from 150 primary, secondary and high schools in the northern provinces and cities.
The theme of this year's competition is SUBMERGEDSM - Deep Ocean, with competition content revolving around global issues such as protecting the underwater environment, improving water quality, as well as developing technological solutions to preserve and maintain underwater ecosystems.
The Organizing Committee awarded two championship prizes to the teams from Hai Phong city, including Nguyen Tri Phuong Primary School and Tran Phu Secondary School (Le Chan District); along with First, Second, Third prizes and many other prizes.
The two winning teams will represent Vietnam to participate in the FIRST LEGO LEAGUE Asia Open World Championship in August 2025 in Macau, China.
Speaking at the contest, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Dung, Director of Hai Phong Department of Foreign Affairs, said that Hai Phong city aims for comprehensive digital transformation and aims to become a new high-tech center in the country.
Therefore, developing science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation are the top important breakthroughs. To achieve the goal, the city has started implementing in many fields, identifying education and training as the spearhead that needs close attention and proper investment.
Over the years, Hai Phong city has facilitated and encouraged schools to promote STEM robotics education activities to develop digital citizenship capacity including innovation, critical thinking and technology application in problem solving in the context of globalization for teachers and students.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Dung expressed her hope that after this event, the children will continue to promote and apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired during their studies and training to become representatives of Vietnamese youth participating in major playgrounds around the world and expected Hai Phong, Vietnam to have great achievements in the international arena for the 2025 season, and at the same time, they will also have contributions to the digital industry in the future of the country.
Mr. Jesper Blaabjerg Holm, Counselor of the Danish Embassy in Vietnam, said that FIRST LEGO LEAGUE is not only a competition but also a playground to help students approach science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in a practical and experiential way. This is a program that is highly appreciated by American universities. Contestants participating in the competition have learned how to cooperate, solve problems creatively and persevere to overcome challenges. These skills will stay with them long after the competition ends.
Teacher Pham Thi Thuy, coach of the Tran Phu Secondary School team in Le Chan district (the winner of the Championship and First Prize of the competition) said that the competition helped students satisfy their passion and gain many experiences and challenges with information technology.
According to the Organizing Committee, starting in 1998, FIRST LEGO LEAGUE for students from 4 to 16 years old is one of the four science and technology playgrounds organized by FIRST of the US.
The competition aims to help students demonstrate their creativity and problem-solving skills through competitions and challenges in STEAM Robotics. To date, the competition has attracted more than 100,000 participants from more than 110 countries around the world.
In Vietnam, the playground is part of the STEM Robot competition system ROBOTACON organized by the Embassy of Denmark and Viet Tinh Anh Joint Stock Company - FIRST's partner in Vietnam.
The competition aims to continue bringing the good values of FIRST to students in Vietnam, creating a playground where they can freely play and be creative while developing soft skills and STEAM knowledge naturally./.
