On July 14, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said that the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump is being investigated as a domestic terrorism case, adding that the suspect acted alone.

The FBI is investigating the incident as an attempted assassination, but is also considering it an act of domestic terrorism. The agency said the gun used to shoot Mr Trump was purchased legally and was an AR Model 556 rifle.

In addition, according to the FBI, it has not yet been discovered that suspect Thomas Matthew Crooks - the subject who caused the shooting of Mr. Trump - has a history of mental illness, but affirmed that it will review social media accounts, weapons used in the incident and related DNA evidence.

The suspect, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was killed by security forces at the scene after committing the crime. Investigators said that authorities discovered multiple explosive devices in the perpetrator's car and home.

Reuters news agency said the FBI determined the suspect acted alone, but the investigation is in its early stages and has not yet determined the suspect's ideology.

Finding the motive behind the shooting of Mr Trump is one of the FBI's top priorities, and the agency warned that threats of violence online have increased, especially since the incident.

On July 13, the attack occurred at a campaign event of Republican presidential candidate, former US President Donald Trump, in Pennsylvania. Mr. Trump was grazed by a bullet in the ear. The FBI representative later confirmed that the shooting was an assassination attempt.

Mr. Trump's health is now stable. On social network X , Republican congressman Dan Meuser said that the former President was on his way to Bedminster, New Jersey after the shooting.

Hours after the incident, Mr. Trump issued his first statement, emphasizing that this was a time when the country and the American people “need to show unity, strength, steadfastness and fearlessness.”

The former US President is looking forward to the Republican National Convention, scheduled to open on July 15 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, confirming that he will attend and deliver a speech to the people.

The Republican National Convention, scheduled to take place from July 15-18, will attract nearly 2,400 delegates and will select the presidential candidate and his future vice presidential running mate.
