On December 25, on the occasion of the 165th anniversary of the death of Doanh Dien Su Nguyen Cong Tru, Kim Son district held an incense offering ceremony to commemorate and express gratitude for his contributions and those who had contributed to reclaiming land, establishing villages, and founding Kim Son district.
Nguyen Cong Tru (1778-1858) was from Uy Vien village, Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh province. He was one of the most famous poets of the first half of the 19th century. In particular, his greatest achievement was reclaiming land, recruiting exiles to establish two districts, Tien Hai (Thai Binh) and Kim Son (Ninh Binh).
To commemorate the merits of Doanh Dien Su Nguyen Cong Tru in organizing the recruitment of people, establishing hamlets, reclaiming land, and founding Kim Son district, in 1882, the people built a temple where he lived in Quang Thien commune. Every year, on the 14th day of the 11th lunar month, the local Party committee, government and people organize a festival to commemorate the great merits of Doanh Dien Su Nguyen Cong Tru.
Offering incense and flowers at the Temple, on behalf of the Party Committee, government, army and people of Kim Son district, the district leaders expressed their respect, remembrance and gratitude for the contributions of Doanh Dien Su Nguyen Cong Tru and those who had contributed to recruiting people, reclaiming and establishing a new land with great potential. The Party Committee, government, army and people in the district vowed to promote the tradition of solidarity and enthusiastically work in production to build the Kim Son open land to develop more and more, worthy of the expectations of our ancestors.
