Pursuant to Decision No. 1228/QD-TTg dated October 21, 2024 of the Prime Minister on the retirement of Lieutenant General Pham Hong Chuong, Commander of Military Region 2, at the conference, Lieutenant General Pham Hong Chuong handed over the task of Commander of Military Region 2 to Major General Tran Van Bac, Deputy Commander of Military Region 2.

Speaking at the conference, on behalf of the Central Military Commission and the leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang acknowledged the contributions of Lieutenant General Pham Hong Chuong to the military and local defense work in particular and to the Army in general. In his position as Commander of Military Region 2, Lieutenant General Pham Hong Chuong, together with the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Command of Military Region 2, led and directed the Armed Forces of Military Region 2 to successfully complete assigned tasks, with many aspects being excellent; helping the Ministry of National Defense to effectively perform the state management of defense in the area.

Outlining a number of key tasks of the entire army in general and the Military Region 2 Armed Forces in particular, General Phan Van Giang requested Major General Tran Van Bac to continue to inherit and promote the achievements of the Military Region 2 Armed Forces in the past time, and immediately start carrying out the tasks. At the same time, together with the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Military Region Command, focus on leading and directing the review of the remaining targets and tasks of 2024 and the 2020-2025 term, especially the key tasks identified by the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense.
