From now until 2030, Ho Chi Minh City National University will have at least 20 new products from key technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, IoT... successfully manufacturing an AI chip.
The content stated in the draft framework of the science and technology program for research and application of artificial intelligence at Ho Chi Minh City National University for the period up to 2030 is seeking opinions from experts and scientists for completion. The project aims to promote the development of strong, advanced research groups in the field of AI, and strengthen interdisciplinary research cooperation.
Ho Chi Minh City National University has identified AI as one of the core technologies in building innovative urban areas, smart cities, and promoting digital economic development. In addition, the Program Framework also aims to transfer technology, build and develop an ecosystem for research, development, and application of artificial intelligence, making AI a key technology for digital transformation. This technology is also considered a platform to encourage start-up initiatives and technology transfer to stimulate the development of products, services, and start-ups.

In addition to training and technology development, Ho Chi Minh City National University also aims to have 150 articles in Q1-ranked international journals or prestigious conferences. The school aims to have 10 international intellectual property certificates, 50 domestic inventions/utility solutions, 100 software copyrights, and 5 semiconductor integrated circuit layout designs for AI chips.
To achieve the above targets, Ho Chi Minh City National University focuses on building specific data sets of Vietnam used in the field of artificial intelligence such as population and demographic data; geographic and spatial data; economic, social, environmental, health, industrial data...
During this period, the school will form and nurture at least 20 potential research groups in the field of artificial intelligence, including at least 5 strong research groups and 10 interdisciplinary research groups. Strong research groups focus on developing AI research and applications in areas such as health, smart agriculture, sustainable development, education, public administration, generative AI, security and privacy in AI, basic AI research, etc.
Ho Chi Minh City has identified 4 directions for AI development, including human resources. The leaders of Ho Chi Minh City emphasized that it needs to be implemented as soon as possible. Currently, Ho Chi Minh City National University annually trains about 4,000 students in information technology in general and artificial intelligence in particular.
