Da Nang: Good signs from the beginning of the year

In the first month of the new year 2024, Da Nang City received good news. Specifically, the locality has just inaugurated a series of key traffic projects, along with positive signals in attracting FDI capital... These optimistic signals from the beginning are expected to bring about a boost in the local socio-economic development this year.

Inauguration of many key projects

Da Nang City has just inaugurated three key traffic projects including DT601 route, DH2 route and the Western beltway 2 section.

Specifically, for the Western Ring Road 2 (section from Road No. 8, Hoa Khanh Industrial Park to Hai Van - Tuy Loan bypass), the project started on December 27, 2019, constructed by the Joint Venture of Truong Son Construction Corporation - Dacinco Construction Investment Company Limited - CIENCO 4 Group Joint Stock Company - Nhat Huy Construction and Trading Company Limited.

The starting point of the route intersects with Road No. 8 of Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, the end point intersects with Hai Van - Tuy Loan bypass, with a total length of 4.6 km. The completion of the above section will help connect Lien Chieu Port under construction with Lien Chieu and Hoa Khanh industrial parks, improving the quality of life and travel conditions of people in the northern area of ​​the city.

Meanwhile, the DH2 route, starting from the intersection with National Highway 14G and ending with DT602, is nearly 9km long. This is a vital traffic route serving the travel needs of people in communes in Hoa Vang district, connecting the northern residential areas with the District Administrative Center and the southern and southwestern residential areas of Hoa Vang district. This route will connect existing routes in the city's traffic network with the Hoa Lien - Tuy Loan and Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressways.

Finally, with the DT601 route, the upgrading and renovation project starts at the intersection with the DT602 route, passing through the communes of Hoa Son, Hoa Lien, Hoa Bac, Hoa Vang district, and ends at the border with Thua Thien - Hue province with a total length of more than 35.6km. The completed route improves traffic conditions in the areas of Hoa Lien and Hoa Bac communes, Hoa Vang district; completes and connects the traffic system according to the planning; serves socio-economic development and national defense and security, rescue work during the rainy season, etc.

At the inauguration ceremony of these three key traffic projects, Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, said that these are all projects with a very large volume of land clearance and resettlement arrangements, affecting nearly 2,500 households. Therefore, the Chairman of the City People's Committee highly appreciated the efforts of the investors, contractors, and construction units of the projects, as well as the understanding and support of the local authorities and people. Mr. Le Trung Chinh also requested the Department of Transport, investors and contractors to promptly review, organize the handover and acceptance of the projects to put them into operation, exploitation, and serve the people to travel conveniently and safely.

FDI attraction flourishes

In addition to the inauguration of major traffic projects, another good sign for Da Nang is the positive signs in attracting FDI capital. Recently, KP AERO INDUSTRIES CO., LTD (Korea) broke ground on the KP VINA Aviation Components Factory project, with a total investment of 20 million USD in Da Nang High-Tech Park.

Highway 2 is a vital traffic route serving the travel needs of people in Hoa Vang district.

The factory will be the place to manufacture, process and assemble aircraft components, including auxiliary engine doors, MIC heads, wing boxes, gliders, and left wing support structures of Boeing 787 and Boeing 737 Max aircraft. According to the plan, the KP VINA Aviation Components Factory will be completed and put into operation in September 2024.

It is known that this is the second project in the aerospace sector invested in Da Nang High-Tech Park, after Universal Alloy Corporation Vietnam Co., Ltd. (USA). According to the representative of KP AERO INDUSTRIES CO., LTD, the human resources trained at educational institutions in the city can fully meet the development needs of the company. In the coming time, the company hopes to soon cooperate to form an aviation components production cluster in Da Nang High-Tech Park.

Da Nang has also just granted an investment certificate to MM Mega Market Vietnam Co., Ltd. for the MM Mega Market Danang Trade Center project with a total investment value of nearly 20 million USD, the project is built in Lien Chieu district. It is known that the upcoming hypermarket project will be built by Mega Market according to hypermarket standards based on the model of BigC Thailand with outstanding accompanying amenities such as supermarkets, shops, restaurants and cinemas.

In addition, identifying semiconductor chips as a breakthrough growth driver in the coming time, Da Nang has been making efforts to invite semiconductor chip businesses from the United States, Taiwan (China), Europe, Korea, etc. to choose the city on the Han River to expand their investment and business in Vietnam. Recently, the city has also established the Da Nang Center for Research and Training in Microchip Design and AI (DSAC Center). The Center is identified as a specialized focal point, advising the city's leaders on building and implementing projects to develop semiconductor chips and microchips in the area. At the same time, it has become a focal point to receive and open up cooperation opportunities in the field of microchips, semiconductors and AI between Da Nang and domestic and foreign partners.

In 2023, Da Nang issued new and adjusted Investment Policy Decisions/Investment Registration Certificates for 57 projects with a total registered investment capital of VND 58,172.53 billion; attracted 202.643 million USD in foreign direct investment (FDI), of which 110 projects were newly issued with a newly registered capital of USD 171.407 million. To date, the city has had 1,020 FDI projects (inside and outside industrial parks) with a total investment capital of over 4.27 billion USD.

Previously, at the meeting with businesses and investors in 2024, the city leaders expressed their determination to remove obstacles for businesses and investors. Accordingly, Mr. Le Trung Chinh affirmed that in the context of many difficulties, the city recognized the efforts and companionship of the business community and investors to develop the city's economy. The city has created favorable conditions and granted investment certificates to businesses and investors, so the units need to focus resources, especially capital, to implement the project. If businesses are not determined, the government is timid and fearful, the projects will never be implemented. The city hopes to see projects that have been granted investment certificates to be implemented in reality...
