Former Twitter engineer says Elon Musk made a mistake firing him

According to BI , engineer Randall Lin violated the rules in the employee handbook and was fired from Twitter in February 2023, a few months after billionaire Elon Musk took over the social network with the blue bird. In an interview, Lin said someone lied about him leaking information to the press.

Lin joined Twitter as a machine learning engineer in February 2020. He was quickly promoted but was unhappy with the company's laid-back atmosphere under former CEO Jack Dorsey. So when Elon Musk took over Twitter in October 2022, Lin joined, eager to meet Musk's high expectations for employees.

Randall Lin, who supported Elon Musk's firings, was also fired.

Randall Lin has earned Musk's respect with his cost-saving vision for Twitter to build its own GPUs, and he's been a regular in meetings about the platform's direction. Lin said he supported Musk's decision to lay off half of his staff in November 2022, seeing the job as an opportunity to make history with a visionary CEO.

But on February 24, 2023, Lin was called in to meet with the company’s security team. Twitter said it had evidence that Lin was the source of two Platformer articles, one about the firing of an engineer who had criticized Musk, and the other about Musk’s tweets being amplified after the Super Bowl.

However, Lin's appeal was not approved, his laptop was taken away and the next day he was fired from Twitter.
