Wei Yongkang is considered one of the most famous Chinese prodigies in decades, according to QQ News.

Wei Yongkang (born 1983) was born in Hunan province, China. From a young age, Yongkang was known as a "child prodigy" and showed many extraordinary qualities.

At the age of 2, Yongkang had mastered 1,000 Chinese characters. At the age of 4, he finished secondary school. At the age of 8, Yongkang passed the entrance exam to the prestigious provincial high school. At the age of 13, Yongkang was admitted to the Physics Department of Xiangtan University, becoming the youngest student in Hunan Province at that time. At the age of 17, Yongkang studied for a Master's degree at the Advanced Physics Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

At that time, Vinh Khang was a typical face admired by many Chinese parents. In fact, to many people, he was a shining example that parents wanted their children to follow and learn from every day.

At Vinh Khang's house, the walls are filled with math and English formulas... so that he can easily memorize and learn at all times. According to Ms. Tang Hoc Mai - Wei Vinh Khang's mother: "Sons must focus on studying to have a future."

In fact, not letting down his parents' expectations, from a young age to adulthood, Vinh Khang has won countless awards, becoming a role model for many people. However, because he was too focused on studying, this young man received a bitter ending later on.

However, like many other "child prodigies", Wei Yongkang's life inevitably had a sad note on the threshold of adulthood.

Not only did he fail to get his master's degree, he was also expelled from school. The prodigy's fall sparked a huge debate about the cause behind it.

Vinh Khang is called "Oriental prodigy" by domestic media.

In 2013, Chinese media reported that the prodigy Wei Yongkang was expelled from school. However, the reason was not because of poor academic performance but because the young man was unable to organize his studies and manage his life.

The male student could not live independently like a normal person, leading to psychological panic and not being able to keep up with his studies. The public opinion of the billion-people country began to question, and the story behind it was gradually revealed.

Life is pre-arranged

His mother was so overprotective that Wei Yongkang could not even carry out simple personal activities.

Yongkang was the greatest hope of his mother, Zeng Xuemei, whose lifelong wish was for her son to become a genius.

Mrs. Zeng could not realize her dream of going to university due to the circumstances, so she devoted herself to her children and educated them in her own way. Therefore, Yongkang's life was already arranged.

According to Chinese media, besides studying, Zeng did not let Yongkang interfere with anything at home, and even brushed his teeth every morning. To ensure that her son did not miss out on reading while eating, she also fed him until high school.

Yongkang's bedroom door and walls were covered with various formulas and new words, and even when he went to the toilet, he couldn't escape studying.

Wei Yongkang himself once said that when he was little, his mother always made him stay home to read books and never let him go out to play. Whenever a girl called him, Mrs. Zeng would say he was not home because she was worried that he would lose concentration.

Too dependent, when leaving his mother's arms, Wei Yongkang could not handle the simplest personal tasks by himself.

According to his schoolmates, he often wears the same set of clothes without changing. In winter, the weather is 0 degrees, but he is still seen wearing the same thin clothes when going out.

Not only did Wei Yongkang have difficulty in his personal life, he also faced problems with time management and communication due to having no friends.

As a result, after completing his master's program, he had difficulty integrating with other graduate students and did not know how to talk to his supervisor.

It is worth noting that during the graduation ceremony, Vinh Khang forgot the time and missed the opportunity to continue his doctoral studies. As a result, he was forced to leave the school because he could not adapt to the research environment.

Later, Vinh Khang got married and had a daughter. At the age of 38, he suddenly passed away due to a serious illness.

After her son was expelled from school, Vinh Khang's mother gradually realized her wrong educational method. She began to teach her son the most normal things like bathing, cooking, washing dishes... After a while, Vinh Khang tried out for many jobs but was rejected. In 2005, a Shanghai aerospace research institute invited him to work, but after a short time, he was also fired for the reason of "not being suitable".

Finally, after a long period of struggling with unemployment, Vinh Khang became a regular employee, working at a software company. In 2010, he got married and became the father of a baby girl. Vinh Khang once confided that his greatest wish in life was to return to school, because reading was his greatest hobby and passion.

In his wife's eyes, Wei Yongkang "changed from a child prodigy into a husband who understands life".

Some people sadly consider this the fall of a prodigy, but looking from the perspective of Wei Yongkang's life, it could be a more normal and happier path.

In 2021, Wei Yongkang's wife suddenly posted an obituary on Weibo, announcing that her husband had passed away at the age of 38 due to a serious illness, ending the glorious but also humiliating journey of the "Oriental prodigy".
