At the meeting, Colonel Duong Ngoc Tuyen reviewed the 70-year history of building, fighting and growing up of the Military Petroleum Industry. Accordingly, on April 18, 1955, the Petroleum Department, the predecessor of the Petroleum Department, a unit under the General Department of Supply, was established, marking the organizational growth and opening a new step of development of the Military Petroleum Industry, the starting point for the heroic tradition of the Petroleum Department later.

Through the long resistance wars, building, fighting and defending the Fatherland, the Petroleum Department has constantly consolidated, improved and developed its organization, staff and tasks. Always closely following the characteristics of the combat situation, directing and guiding to continuously improve work efficiency, drawing many valuable lessons and experiences in both theory and practice; performing well the strategic advisory function on petroleum work, affirming the position and role of the Petroleum Department; excellently completing the tasks assigned by the Party, State and Army.

Colonel Duong Ngoc Tuyen affirmed that in the coming time, the Petroleum Department will continue to promote its tradition, focus on advising leaders at all levels in leadership and direction, ensuring good petroleum work in training, combat readiness and national reserves in National Defense, ensuring the building of a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, modern Army, building and firmly protecting the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam in the new period.
