BTO-As Lunar New Year approaches, the demand for renting Ao Dai and accessories for taking photos increases, with some stores recording more than 100 customers per day.
At Dan Dan fashion store on Tu Van Tu street (Phan Thiet city), for over a month now, there have been regular customers coming in and out. Most of the customers are young and middle-aged people who want to rent ao dai to take pictures and record beautiful moments at the end of the year.
Ms. Phuong Dan - the shop owner happily said: At the end of the year, the demand for renting ao dai and accessories is higher than usual. But this year, the number has increased sharply, from 8am until closing at 10pm, there are customers. Although they have just imported more than 1,000 ao dai sets (both men and women) to match this year's fashion and designs, they are still "out of stock". In particular, the largest number of customers is on weekends, with an average of 100 coming to borrow, making it impossible for the shop to give specific advice to each customer. But it seems that everyone understands and sympathizes. The rental price for each set is 100,000 VND, along with 2-3 accompanying accessories such as wooden clogs, rattan baskets, hair bands, fans, scarves, glasses... In addition, the shop also rents accessories separately for the day at prices ranging from only 20,000 - 40,000 VND.
While choosing an ao dai with her sister to take pictures at the Truong Duc Thanh Relic Site, Ms. Lien (Ham Tien Ward) said: Normally, to make a new ao dai, women often spend a lot of time choosing fabric, taking measurements, and waiting for the tailor to complete. Instead, for rented ao dai, just go to the store and the staff can advise on the ao dai designs and sizes that suit your body shape. In addition, this is the first year taking Tet photos, so I want to choose outfits that match the scene and fashion of the year.
According to Ms. Huong Thu (Phu Tai ward): From the past to the present, Ao Dai has always been familiar with the image of Vietnamese women, it is a traditional costume that enhances the femininity, gentleness and all the pride of Vietnamese women. Especially, when the new year is approaching, wearing traditional costumes and recording the moments of spring is very meaningful.
In the current difficult economic situation, spending a few hundred thousand to a few million dong to buy clothes that can only be worn a couple of times is an inappropriate and thoughtless way of spending money. Therefore, the mentality of going to rental stores to have beautiful clothes every year that never go out of style and to be carefully advised when wearing accessories is the way that many groups of friends and women's groups choose.
An employee of Ly Vintage store on Vo Thi Sau street shared: The trend of ao dai for Tet this year is peacock and phoenix printed sets. The average rental price for each type is only 70,000 - 90,000 VND/set, with 2 accessories included. As for the more high-end models such as Viet Phuc and Nhat Binh, which were court costumes for queens, concubines, concubines and princesses during the Nguyen Dynasty, now becoming popular costumes for Hue women during weddings, the rental price will be higher, from 250,000 VND/set.
On the streets, in flower gardens, flower markets, coffee shops, by ancient pagodas or along the coast... people in beautiful ao dai, with cheerful faces, are still taking photos to welcome spring. That atmosphere also adds a lovely color and image to the flavor of the traditional Tet holiday.
