Nghe An province's foreign affairs work in 2023 is vibrant and effective

According to the assessment of the Provincial People's Committee at the regular meeting in November 2023, foreign affairs work in 2023 will be implemented synchronously on 3 pillars: Party foreign affairs, State diplomacy and People's diplomacy.

This is also the year that foreign affairs really flourished with many outstanding activities such as successfully organizing delegations, implementing Party foreign affairs, friendly cooperation between governments, attracting investment, trade and tourism.

The Party's foreign affairs work continues to be vigorously implemented. Strictly direct the unified management of foreign affairs activities in the province; orient the province's foreign information activities; strengthen the Party's foreign relations with localities with traditional relations and potential partners.

State diplomacy has been implemented synchronously and effectively. Up to now, the Provincial People's Committee has organized 16 delegations of provincial leaders to go on business trips abroad; organized receptions and worked with 40 delegations/606 foreign visitors.

Nghe An province continues to maintain relations with traditional partners such as Xieng Khouang, Hua Phan and Bolikhamxay provinces (Lao PDR), Gyeonggi province (South Korea), Gifu province (Japan), Ulianov province (Russian Federation); expand relations with the United States, India, some European countries and business associations...

Through diplomatic work, the State has made an important contribution to tightening and further promoting traditional friendly cooperative relations, expanding cooperation with new partners, and promoting advantages in attracting investment, trade, and tourism to potential foreign investors.

In particular, economic diplomacy has been implemented vigorously and comprehensively, with profound changes in quality and quantity, achieving many outstanding results. The province has actively coordinated with central ministries, departments, branches, infrastructure investors, and strategic partners to promote the potential, strengths, and investment opportunities of Nghe An province to partners and countries around the world.

Promote investment connection activities with investors from traditional markets such as Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc.; accompany and support foreign investors in the process of investment research, project implementation and throughout the process of investment and business activities in Nghe An province.

Notably, within the framework of the visit of the Prime Minister and his wife to Singapore, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee worked with the leaders of Seambcorp Group and the Singapore Manufacturing Federation SMF to continue discussing promoting economic cooperation, especially in the fields of trade and investment; and awarded the Decision on investment policy for the VSIP Nghe An II Project in Tho Loc Industrial Park.

In particular, the delegation of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee was successfully organized in the United States. The delegation worked and held seminars with the US-ASEAN Business Council, the US Semiconductor Association, the Vietnamese Embassy in the United States, and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Houston. These are the province's major partners and markets after Vietnam and the United States decided to upgrade their relationship to the highest level of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Along with that, 2 Nghe An - US Investment Connection seminars were held in Texas and Washington DC, with the participation of many businesses and organizations, contributing to promoting trade and investment cooperation between US partners and Nghe An province.

Up to this point, the number of workers sent to work abroad under contracts is 18,639 people, reaching 128.54% of the plan. The export turnover of goods is estimated at 2.45 billion USD, up 12.02% over the same period. The province has newly granted 15 FDI projects and adjusted capital for 10 FDI projects, with a total newly granted and adjusted investment capital of 1.298 billion USD, including many large-scale projects.

The province currently has 11 ODA programs and projects and foreign preferential loans, with a total investment of VND9,620 billion, in the fields of agriculture, health, wastewater drainage, and transport infrastructure. ODA official development assistance capital contributes significantly to the province's socio-economic development, hunger eradication, poverty reduction, and infrastructure construction.

People-to-people diplomacy activities continue to be implemented effectively, gradually going into depth and practicality. Thereby, contributing to consolidating traditional friendship, cooperation and development with neighboring countries, expanding relations with friends and international partners.
