On the afternoon of January 17, Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired a working session with leaders of WHA Group (Thailand) on the project implementation status and development plan of WHA Group in Nghe An province.
Attending the meeting were Mr. Bui Thanh An - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board, Provincial People's Committee Office, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Department of Planning and Investment and Nghi Loc district.
On the side of WHA Group, there were Mr. and Mrs. Jareeporn Jarukornsakul - Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Group; Vivat Jiratikarnsakul - Group Advisor; along with the Operations Director, Strategy Director, Country Director of WHA Vietnam, Executive Director, Operations Director, and leaders of member companies of WHA Group.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Board of Directors of WHA Group Jareeporn Jarukornsakul expressed his sincere and deepest thanks for the support of the provincial leaders, departments, branches, and Nghi Loc district during more than 7 years of WHA Group's investment and development in Nghe An province.
Congratulating Nghe An province for ranking 8th in the country in FDI attraction in 2023, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of WHA Group hopes that in 2024, Nghe An province will continue to maintain this achievement.
Ms. Jareeporn Jarukornsakul said that with the support of the province, in 2023, the Group attracted two major investors, Foxconn Group and Sunny Group. In 2024, WHA Group had prospective investors with land use needs of 80-100 hectares. WHA Group also hopes to continue to have the opportunity to develop phase 4 in Nghe An and continue to welcome investment capital from Chinese investors to Nghe An.
In 2023, WHA Group achieved the largest revenue and profit since its establishment. In the coming time, WHA Group has planned to invest 1 billion USD in Vietnam. Therefore, the group hopes to continue to receive close support and active companionship from the leaders of Nghe An province.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung sincerely thanked the leaders of WHA Group for their special affection for Nghe An province on the occasion of the New Year and preparation for the Lunar New Year 2024; at the same time, congratulated the results that WHA Group has achieved in 2023, including the results that the group has deployed in Nghe An province.
Regarding the socio-economic situation of the province in 2023, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that Nghe An has maintained stability and positive growth. In particular, the bright spot in the province's economic picture is investment attraction, of which FDI attraction reached more than 1.6 billion USD, ranking 8th in the country.
"Achieving this result is due to the important contribution of businesses and investors implementing projects in the province, including WHA Group," emphasized comrade Nguyen Duc Trung.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that Nghe An is the first locality in the country that WHA Group has chosen to invest in industrial park infrastructure projects in a systematic, practical and effective manner, which is demonstrated in 4 points.
WHA Group's industrial park infrastructure projects are implemented in very appropriate phases, in accordance with the Group's commitments. Phase 1 covers an area of 143.5 hectares, with an occupancy rate of over 75% so far; Phase 2 covers an area of over 354 hectares, with an occupancy rate of 44% so far; the total occupancy rate of the two phases is over 55%. The Group is currently carrying out procedures to propose an investment policy for WHA Industrial Park Phase 3 with an area of about 243 hectares.
In addition, the investment attraction sector and the scale of projects that WHA Group has attracted are also impressive. To date, the group has attracted 1.12 billion USD in FDI capital. These are very meaningful numbers, contributing to Nghe An entering the top 10 of the country in terms of FDI attraction results.
The investors that WHA Group has attracted are in the high-tech, environmentally friendly fields, in line with the fields that Nghe An calls for investment. When these projects come into operation, they will make important contributions to the socio-economic development of the province, changing the economic structure and scale of the economy, especially the scale of industrial production, while creating job opportunities for about 80,000-100,000 workers.
Despite many difficulties, WHA Group is one of many industrial park infrastructure investors that has contributed positively to the provincial budget. In 2023, WHA Group contributed 80 billion VND to the provincial budget. WHA Group has also accompanied the Provincial People's Committee to implement projects and actively participated in social security work in the province, especially in Nghi Loc district.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung acknowledged, highly appreciated and congratulated the results achieved by WHA Group; at the same time, sincerely thanked the group for its contributions to the socio-economic development results, especially investment attraction in recent times.
Assessing that 2024 will present more challenges than advantages, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that Nghe An is still determined to set high goals in socio-economic development and investment attraction. In particular, the province strives to maintain its position in the top 10 in the country in attracting foreign investment capital.
Recognizing the opportunities for accessing FDI capital flows, Nghe An province hopes that WHA Group will continue to accompany the province to realize the set goals, especially in the field of investment attraction. Therefore, it is recommended that WHA Group complete phase 2 infrastructure investment, promote investment attraction; complete procedures to get approval for phase 3 investment policy, and prepare for the next phases as agreed upon by the province and the group.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung emphasized that Nghe An province is committed to always accompanying and supporting WHA Group to successfully implement projects in the area. Nghe An province also hopes to continue receiving investment capital from WHA Group in the coming time, to jointly achieve goals and develop together.
