Part 1: Maintaining a breakthrough role
In the first years of implementing the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025, Dak Nong Industry was severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, overcoming the challenges, the province's industrial enterprises gradually made strong breakthroughs.
Resolution of the 12th Congress of Dak Nong Provincial Party Committee, term 2020 - 2025 sets the goal of "Building Dak Nong province to become a locality with dynamic and sustainable economic development in the Central Highlands"; "Becoming a national aluminum industrial center" by 2030.
After half a term of implementing the Resolution, Dak Nong's industrial production has had a fairly good growth rate, gradually affirming its position as one of the three economic pillars of the province. In the period of 2021-2022, the average growth of the industrial sector in Dak Nong's GRDP is 10.93%.
Seize the opportunity
As one of the leading enterprises in the economic development of the province, Hong Duc Company Limited (Dak R'lap) has taken quite cautious steps to overcome the ups and downs of the market.
With flexible solutions, in the early years of the pandemic, the Company still maintained a strong growth rate. The most obvious manifestation is that the Company's production output has increased steadily over the years.
Specifically, in 2021, the Company's cashew output increased by 30% compared to the previous year; in 2022 it increased by 50% and in 2023, it is also expected to increase by 50%.
In the first 5 months of 2023 alone, the Company's cashew export output reached about 5,000 tons, an increase of about 30% over the same period last year.
Company Director Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet said that in the context of general difficulties, the Company is taking full advantage of its advantages to promote the market for its products.
Currently, the European and American markets are tightening spending due to the impact of economic recession. White cashew nuts through these markets are almost narrowed.
Therefore, the entire capacity of the factory is currently being focused by the Company on the production of salted roasted cashew nuts. This product currently has a better market.
In particular, since the end of 2022, the Company has strongly developed two effective sales channels for salted roasted cashew nuts in the Chinese market, which are online and through agents.
All products manufactured by the Company will be transferred to agents in your country and distributed directly to customers, without going through intermediaries. The costs incurred for the product will be significantly reduced, increasing competitiveness in the market.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, Director of Hong Duc Company Limited
Continuing with existing advantages, in early 2023, Toan Hang Private Enterprise (Dak R'lap) boldly invested in a fruit processing factory in Dak Wer commune, with a total investment capital of 5 million USD.
The factory is built with a total area of 6,000m2. Initially, the factory will focus on freezing fruit trees such as: durian with a capacity of 250 tons/day; avocado with 5 tons/day and passion fruit with 5 tons/day.
Enterprises will cooperate to build a circular agriculture that develops according to the value-added chain. Input materials are applied according to the standards: VietGAP, GlobalGAP, Rainforest, 4C...
This is also one of the leading enterprises in the province in coffee processing and exporting. In the 2022 crop year alone, the enterprise's coffee processing capacity will reach 30,000 tons. Revenue from coffee exports will reach over 3 million USD.
From the first quarter of 2021 to the first quarter of 2023, the total number of newly registered enterprises in Dak Nong was 1,518 units, with a total registered capital of 11,222 billion VND. Enterprises in the province are mainly small, medium and micro enterprises. Of which, enterprises entering the market in the industrial - construction sector accounted for 21.7%.
Breakthrough for growth
In the period of 2021-2022, the average growth of Dak Nong's industrial sector in GRDP is 10.93%. In 2022 alone, the added value of the industrial sector will reach 4,548 billion VND, an increase of 41% compared to 2020.
In the period of 2021-2022, most of Dak Nong's main industrial products increased sharply compared to the previous period. The industrial sector gradually exploited the potential and strengths of the locality, contributing significantly to the province's economic growth.
Notably, the Nhan Co Alumina Plant Project has a capacity of 650,000 tons/year. In fact, with the amount of ore exploited, in 2021, the Plant produced nearly 730,000 tons of alumina and in 2022 with 715,000 tons, exceeding the design capacity by 15%.
The factory's operation has created direct jobs for 1,100 local workers and led to the development of other types of services in the project area.
On the other hand, the advantage of abundant agricultural and forestry raw materials is also effectively exploited. The proportion of industrially processed agricultural products is increasing. Some processing plants have increased their capacity and have just been put into operation.
Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Ba Ut said that, for industry, the above results were achieved thanks to the province's implementation of strategic breakthroughs.
Most notably, the province has built a synchronous infrastructure system to meet production activities and industrial development in the area. In particular, the province has always paid attention to implementing technical infrastructure for industrial zones and clusters.
There are currently 3 industrial parks (IPs) in the province. By March 2023, the IPs had attracted 43 secondary investment projects, with a total registered capital of VND 18,421.5 billion and implemented capital of VND 4,019.2 billion.
Of these, 33 projects have been put into operation and 10 projects are under implementation. Of which, the occupancy rate of Tam Thang Industrial Park (Cu Jut) is 92.15%; Nhan Co Industrial Park (Dak R'lap) is 86.5%.
Nhan Co 2 Industrial Park has just been granted by the Prime Minister the investment policy to build and operate infrastructure, with a scale of 400 hectares. The total investment capital for the project is over 1,442 billion VND.
Many hydropower and renewable energy projects have now come into operation, opening up new development space for the province's industry in the next phase.
By 2022, the proportion of the industrial sector in Dak Nong's economic structure will account for 11.38%. Industrial production has developed. The province's industrial production value is always higher year after year.
