At the forum, the authors' presentations recognized and evaluated the Vietnamese revolutionary press, which is approaching the milestone of 100 years of development. Through the development journey of nearly a century, the press has increasingly demonstrated its orientation, promoted its mission, responsibility and improved its operational efficiency, gradually asserting its professionalism, humanity and modernity, making a very important contribution to the common achievements of the country and the nation.

At the same time, to solve infrastructure bottlenecks, the city is currently focusing resources to accelerate completion and ensure the set progress. Therefore, the city hopes that press and media agencies will accompany in the propaganda work to the people and vividly reflect the process of economic and social recovery and development of the city.

Comrade Phan Van Mai - Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee spoke at the Forum.

According to Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, digital technology has the first and strongest impact on the field of journalism and communications and has created fundamental changes in this field.

Cyberspace is now the main battlefield, the main battle of the press. The fourth industrial revolution, digital technology, digital transformation have been going on for more than ten years, now it is not only about going to cyberspace but also about reclaiming cyberspace, creating the mainstream in cyberspace. In addition, the main source of revenue for the press will also come from cyberspace.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that digital technology takes away some old jobs but also creates new ones. “So the press has to do new things. Innovation in journalism lies in the fact that the press has to do more than what it is doing. The press needs a wider space than “Who, what, when and where”. Readers want to know what is behind the news. It can be an interpretation, analysis or commentary on the news. It can also be a multi-dimensional view, a deep and intellectual understanding, an interesting and suggestive interpretation, or a solution to the country's problems”, said Minister Nguyen Manh Hung.

According to comrade Nguyen Manh Hung, the recent difficulties and problems of the press do not reduce the role of the press - as some people think - but only say that the press needs to innovate. If it does not change, it will be replaced. Digital technology, the internet and social media are strong impetus to innovate the press. This innovation will only increase the role and contribution of revolutionary press to the cause of building a strong and prosperous Vietnam.

Comrade Nguyen Manh Hung - Minister of Information and Communications spoke at the Forum.

"If you want to go far, you have to come near. If the press wants to innovate, it must find and maintain the core values and original mission of revolutionary journalism. Keep this constant to adapt to all changes. This all changes is the way we do journalism. Our infinite creative space is here. The tool to realize that infinite creativity is mainly digital technology," Minister Nguyen Manh Hung shared.

To help delegates have a more comprehensive view of the challenges and requirements for press innovation, comrade Le Quoc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, pointed out the reality and survey results showing that the situation of printed newspaper circulation is declining not only globally, but also directly affecting many domestic press agencies.

In particular, comrade Le Quoc Minh pointed out the collected data on the size of the editorial office, the average age of the press agency, the fluctuation in circulation sales (compared to 2022), the number of visits and the number of readers on the website, digital platforms. Along with that are the issues of revenue sources, difficulties and factors affecting the development of the press agency. From the survey results, the topic also pointed out the development of artificial intelligence AI in press activities, creating information competition and opportunities for traditional press agencies to innovate and develop sustainably...

Delegates affirmed that in the current period, the press has been constantly innovating, creating, being flexible, effective, promoting the application and mastering modern communication technology with the birth of many new programs and products, spreading widely on digital platforms, having a good effect on society. However, delegates also predicted that, in the face of increasingly fierce competition from new types of information (social networks), this is an extremely difficult time for the world press as well as the Vietnamese press.

After the plenary session, delegates attended discussion sessions with many topics such as: "Enhancing Party spirit and orientation in press activities"; "Building a cultural press environment"; "Data journalism and outstanding content strategy".
