Ha Tinh Trade Union and businesses overcome difficulties

At a time when production and business activities are negatively affected as at present, trade unions at all levels in Ha Tinh have promoted their role in gathering and mobilizing union members and workers, practically accompanying businesses to overcome difficulties.

Thong Thuan Seafood Joint Stock Company (Nghi Xuan District) is a unit operating in the field of producing and supplying shrimp seeds to the national market. According to tradition, from November this year to January next year, the company's workers have to "winter break" and have no work because the climate conditions in Ha Tinh this season are very harsh, causing harm to shrimp, and the quality of shrimp does not meet customer requirements.

From the emulation movement "Good workers - creative workers" launched by the union, many initiatives have been born and applied to maintain winter production and business activities at Thong Thuan Seafood Joint Stock Company.

During the winter break, the company's production and business activities were interrupted; workers only received 50% of their salary. To overcome these difficulties, the company's trade union executive committee launched and encouraged workers to respond to the movements "Good workers - Creative workers", "Promoting technical innovation initiatives" to apply in production.

Responding to the movement, many initiatives to improve the living environment, limit the impact of weather and disease on the growth of shrimp larvae have been born, contributing to increasing the yield and quality of winter shrimp. Thanks to that, at this time, the company still maintains production and supplies to traditional partners.

Workers have regular jobs and stable income in difficult times.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Dat - a worker at the company shared: "Having a job in the winter crop is what workers always want. With the active participation of the union and the efforts of the workers, this year, we have regular jobs, stable income; salary and bonus policies are guaranteed, so everyone is more excited and secure."

Garment is one of the industries most affected by the current global situation. In this difficult time, the Trade Union Executive Committee of Appareltech Garment Export Company Limited (Duc Tho Industrial Park) is working hard to coordinate with business leaders to find orders and ensure jobs for nearly 1,600 workers.

Along with that, the union has promoted the role of gathering and uniting workers to share with the company in difficult times through specific actions such as: mobilizing workers to agree to take annual leave at the same time to facilitate the company in arranging work; responding to the emulation movement "Productivity - Quality - Efficiency"...

Nearly 1,600 workers of Appareltech Garment Export Company Limited are guaranteed jobs and income during the crisis period of the garment industry.

Mr. Kwon Soon Cheol - General Director of Appareltech Garment Export Co., Ltd. said: “The union has always accompanied the company in difficult times, doing a good job of stabilizing the workers' mentality and encouraging their working spirit. With the companionship and sharing of the union and workers, I believe that we will soon overcome this crisis.”

In Vung Ang Economic Zone, many businesses in the fields of seafood, garment, wood processing... are also facing difficulties. Chairman of the Provincial Economic Zones Trade Union Nguyen Duc Thach said: "Raw material prices are high, orders are decreasing, many companies have to cut labor... In that situation, the trade union has surveyed the situation, shared difficulties with businesses; connected with businesses that need to recruit to find new jobs for workers who have lost their jobs".

In addition to accompanying businesses in difficult times, trade unions at all levels are also implementing many activities to care for and protect the legal and legitimate rights of workers.

The Provincial Economic Zones Trade Union participates in resolving issues arising in labor relations at the workplace.

Heavily affected by the world situation, at the end of October 2023, Five Star Garment Joint Stock Company (Huong Son) had to temporarily suspend operations, more than 300 workers lost their jobs. Ms. Cu Thi Bich Thuan - Chairwoman of the Huong Son District Labor Federation said: "In addition to sharing with business leaders, the District Labor Federation has actively coordinated with relevant departments and branches to urge and supervise the implementation of policies and regimes for workers. To date, 100% of workers with unpaid wages have been fully paid by the company."

Implementing the policy of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on implementing policies to support union members and employees whose working hours are reduced or whose labor contracts are terminated due to enterprises cutting orders, trade unions at all levels have directly surveyed and grasped the labor and employment situation at enterprises to have a basis for making recommendations to higher levels. Up to now, the provincial Confederation of Labor is receiving and completing documents for review and proposing to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for support according to regulations.

The Policy and Law Department of the Provincial Labor Federation directly grasps the labor and employment situation and guides businesses and employees on the procedures for submitting documents for approval of support from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor Nguyen Van Trong said: “In addition to performing the functions and tasks of caring for union members and workers, the program “Accompanying businesses” is always considered by the Ha Tinh Trade Union as one of the key tasks. As the Lunar New Year is approaching, trade unions at all levels will strive and actively implement many activities to share more with businesses and workers.”

The active participation of trade unions has contributed to affirming their role as companions and bridges between businesses and workers; helping workers feel secure and ready to share with businesses to overcome difficult times like the present.
