VHO - On the evening of November 29, within the framework of the opening ceremony of the Hanoi Food Culture Festival 2024, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong presented the Decision to register "Pho Hanoi" as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage to the leaders of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Hanoi Pho community.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha emphasized that, following the success of the three Festivals, the Hanoi Food Culture Festival 2024 with the theme "Hanoi connects five continents" aims to honor, preserve and promote the traditional cultural and culinary values of the capital Hanoi, effectively building and exploiting the cultural and culinary brand through developing a quintessential, unique and quality culture and cuisine.
The festival also introduces and promotes the image of Hanoi as a unique tourist, cultural and culinary destination; is an opportunity for the capital Hanoi and embassies of countries, localities, organizations and individuals to meet, exchange and display and promote products.
This year, the Festival has the participation of 16 embassies of countries: Algeria, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Brazil, India, Iran, Japan, Mongolia, Laos, Russian Federation, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Korea, France, Italy, Venezela; 8 provinces: Ha Giang, Son La, Lang Son, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, Khanh Hoa, Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh with a scale of more than 80 booths.
Through the Festival, organizations, individuals and artisans have the opportunity to meet, exchange, promote products and experience the unique culinary culture of countries, territories, provinces and cities.
People and tourists can immerse themselves in many folk games, enjoy traditional and modern cultural and artistic performances performed by Vietnamese and international artists; exchange and share knowledge and secrets of famous artisans and chefs who have "breathed life" into ingredients and food to turn them into unique culinary works of art, imbued with national identity.
According to Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha, Hanoi is proud to be a locality with a large number of heritages in the country, rich in both breadth and depth with the integration of Thang Long culture with the cultural regions of Xu Doai, Xu Dong, Kinh Bac, and Son Nam Thuong.
“Along with the Me Tri green rice craft, Phu Thuong sticky rice craft, and Quang An lotus tea craft, in 2024, "Pho Hanoi" was honored to be listed in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This is an honor and pride for the host community and food lovers.
Heritage registration is also an important legal basis to contribute to implementing measures to protect and promote the value of the intangible cultural heritage "Pho Hanoi"...", Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha said.
In particular, the Hanoi Food Culture Festival 2024 will feature the "Pho So Ha Thanh" program - a unique creation combining traditional cuisine and technology. Thereby, traditional pho is not only preserved but also developed, spread strongly in the digital age and is a creative product of Hanoi in the cultural industry.
The City's leaders affirmed that, on the occasion of the "2024 Food Culture Festival", Hanoi, together with international friends and provinces and cities across the country, will continue to spread, disseminate and promote cultural values and specialty products of each region, locality and country to people and tourists.
Within the framework of the festival, there are activities to introduce, promote, discuss, and demonstrate traditional cuisine and heritage such as: Photo exhibition area introducing works of art promoting typical domestic and international culture, tourism, and cuisine; mobile book exhibition introducing books promoting typical domestic and international culture, art, tourism, and cuisine or friendly cooperation between countries; activities in Hanoi, folk games, traditional and modern art performances; art performances; discussions on improving the quality of human resources, developing culinary culture, etc.
The highlight of the festival is the protection, promotion and introduction of the intangible cultural heritage "Pho Hanoi", with specific activities: announcing the decision to include "Pho Hanoi" in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage; building a Hanoi Cuisine section; a discussion on "Protecting and promoting the intangible cultural heritage of Pho Hanoi"...
Activities in the Hanoi Food Culture Festival 2024 will take place over 3 days (November 29 - December 1) at Thong Nhat Park, Tran Nhan Tong Street, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi.
