The national final round of the online knowledge contest - Violympic for the 2023-2024 school year was held on April 12 and 13, with the participation of 118,302 contestants from 55 provinces and cities across the country. Of which, Hanoi, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Hai Duong, Phu Tho, Hai Phong, Ha Nam, Vung Tau, Kien Giang, Dak Nong, Dak Lak are the localities that top the rankings in terms of the percentage of students participating in the largest number of years.

According to the Organizing Committee, the 2023-2024 Violympic national final round has recorded a record number of examination councils with more than 900 councils nationwide. To enter this final round, the candidates completed 9 previous rounds of competition at all levels, including 6 free rounds and 3 rounds at school, district and provincial levels.

In its 17th year, the Violympic online general knowledge competition has expanded both in terms of competition content and competition groups in the national round. Specifically, the Violympic national competition round for the 2023-2024 school year opens Math for grades 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10; Math in English for grades 4, 5, 6 and 8; Vietnamese for grades 2, 3, 4 and 5; History for grades 4 and 5; Grade 9 students compete in Natural Science.

The 2023-2024 school year is the first year that the competition has added History for grades 4 and 5 in the national round. However, according to statistics, the History Violympic has successfully attracted more than 100,000 participants in the free rounds, school, district and provincial levels. The number of students participating in this subject in the recent national round was 10,000.

The fact that History is included in the national Violympic round is considered a positive sign, showing that online competitions are becoming more comprehensive in terms of knowledge, closely following the policies and orientations of the Ministry of Education and Training, while also opening up a more interesting approach to history for the younger generation. Thereby, contributing to nurturing the love of the country's history for high school students.

The representative of the Organizing Committee said that the national round of Violympic for the 2023-2024 school year took place 100% online. Before the exam time, all candidates gathered at the exam clusters had registered in advance with the Organizing Committee. The Organizing Committee issued a mandatory exam code to students of each grade and this exam code expired 10 minutes after the exam started.

“To ensure fairness and transparency for the contest, we have applied new algorithms and new technologies to detect fraud. At the same time, we have increased coordination of online monitoring and audio and video recording at all contest locations nationwide,” added a representative of the Violympic Organizing Committee.

In a new update to VietNamNet, the Organizing Committee of the Violympic Internet Knowledge Contest for the 2023-2024 school year said that the results of this year's national round are expected to be announced in the last week of April 2024 and the award ceremony will take place in Hanoi on May 25.

Students who win national prizes at the Violympic in the 2023-2024 school year will be awarded certificates along with Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals for each subject and grade. In addition, the top 20 students, the top of each grade, will receive physical prizes including laptops, tablets, watches, etc. with a total prize value of nearly 1 billion VND.

As a community education project implemented by the Ministry of Education and Training and FPT Technology Group since 2008, the online playground Violympic has attracted nearly 50 million students nationwide after 17 years of implementation. Over the years, Violympic has been continuously innovated in both form and content, closely following the students' classroom curriculum and the orientation of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Statistics from the Organizing Committee of the Violympic competition show that in the 2020-2021 school year, this online knowledge competition recorded nearly 17,000 candidates participating in the national round. By the 2021-2022 school year, this number increased nearly 4 times with 65,000 candidates participating. In the past 2 years, the number of students participating in the national round of the Violympic competition continued to increase, reaching more than 100,000 candidates.
