Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club temporarily says goodbye to overseas Vietnamese player

"The Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club would like to thank Ashley Tram Anh for her contributions in the past time and send her best wishes. Hopefully Ashley Tram Anh will achieve good results in the upcoming exam," the official fanpage of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club informed on its homepage.

Ashley Tram Anh's exam will take place in early May, while the 2025 Women's National Cup ends on April 6. This also means that the Vietnamese-American midfielder has said goodbye to the tournament. This is a big loss for the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club when Ashley started in the last two matches in the group stage, helping the team qualify for the semi-finals as the top team.

However, this farewell is only temporary, because Ashley Tram Anh still has a contract with Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club. After finishing her graduation exam, the player born in 2002 will return to Vietnam to join the team to participate in the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League Women's 2024/2025.

Previously in this arena, coach Doan Thi Kim Chi's team defeated Abu Dhabi (UAE) in the quarterfinals on March 22, thereby making history for Vietnamese football. Two Vietnamese-American players Ashley Tonthat Tram Anh and Chelsea Lien Le also participated and played in this match.

Ashley Tonthat Tram Anh was born in 2002, is a senior majoring in biochemistry at Gonzaga University, and is also a player for the university's football team competing in the American high school football system.

Along with Chelsea Le (born in 2001), Ashley is a talented player that coach Mai Duc Chung has long wanted to strengthen the Vietnamese women's team.

On the side of Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club, the team under the leadership of Coach Doan Thi Kim Chi will continue to compete in the 2025 Women's National Cup. They will meet the defending champion Vietnam Coal and Minerals in the semi-finals taking place on the afternoon of April 3.
