The story of the 'ferryman' from Nghe An receiving the title of Excellent Teacher in 2023

(Dan Tri) - With enthusiasm and love for the profession, nearly 30 years standing on the podium, Ms. Le Thi Hai Yen, Principal of Nghia Tho Primary School, has always devoted herself to the cause of educating people.
That is Ms. Le Thi Hai Yen, Principal of Nghia Tho Primary School, Nghia Dan District. Ms. Yen was born and raised in Quynh Luu District, Nghe An. In 1995, after graduating from Nghe An Pedagogical College, she worked at Nghia Dan State Farm School at that time. After 14 years of teaching, in 2009 she was appointed Vice Principal of Nghia Binh Primary School. After that, Ms. Yen moved to become Principal of Nghia Dan Town Primary School.

In her new position, with many challenges, during this period, the Town Primary School was chosen as the first school to be built to meet the standards of level 2. With her youth and love for the profession, Ms. Yen constantly strives, practices, and has many innovative experiences that have been applied. From her initiatives, the overall quality of Nghia Dan Town Primary School has been gradually improved. In the 2016-2017 school year, the Town Primary School was recognized as meeting the national standards of level 2. After completing her duties at the Town Primary School, Ms. Yen was transferred to work at Nghia Tho Primary School - a particularly disadvantaged commune.

Here, the children's parents work far away and do not have the conditions to take care of their children. Therefore, Ms. Yen's biggest concern is how to improve their physical strength to help them have better learning conditions. She boldly asked for opinions from the locality and the District Department of Education and Training, focused on propaganda, and mobilized all resources to repair and supplement facilities to ensure a semi-boarding kitchen for 300 students. "Ms. Yen is a teacher and manager who is very close, dedicated to her work, always caring, encouraging, sharing, and supporting her colleagues in both professional and personal life, and is trusted by her colleagues, parents, and students...", Ms. Vo Thi Bich Thuy, a teacher at Nghia Tho Primary School shared. Having held many positions and working areas, Ms. Yen has always actively participated in movements of the industry, government, and organizations; built ethical standards, lifestyles, and working styles; set an example of going first, doing first, daring to think, daring to do, and taking responsibility before the collective. In particular, in the work of caring for poor students, she is an enthusiastic participant.

"During my work, I never thought that I would receive any title. First of all, I tried to fulfill my duties with my passion for the profession. I always knew that I had to try my best to impart my knowledge to students with all my heart," Ms. Yen added. With her efforts and dedication to the profession, for many consecutive years she has achieved the title of excellent teacher at all levels; grassroots emulation fighter; provincial emulation fighter; and was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee for outstanding achievements in education and training in the 2019-2020 and 2021-2022 periods. At the end of November 2023, Ms. Le Thi Hai Yen was honored to be one of 63 teachers to whom President Vo Van Thuong signed a decision to confer the title of Excellent Teacher.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Nghia Dan district, said that Ms. Yen is a manager, good at professional skills, dedicated to her job, a shining example of an exemplary teacher devoted to her students, the pride of Nghia Tho Primary School. "She is always enthusiastic, responsible, always excellently completing assigned tasks; loved by colleagues and students. In 2023, Ms. Yen was honored to be awarded the title of Excellent Teacher by the President," Mr. Hung shared.
