MSc. Phung Quan analyzed the graduation exam scores and the scores of university admission groups to make an assessment of the benchmark scores in 2024. The test scores of candidates taking the national high school graduation exam in 2024 showed that the average score for Literature was 0.39; Math was 6.45; English was 5.51; Physics was 6.67; Chemistry was 6.68; Biology was 6.28; History was 6.57; Geography was 7.19.
In 2023, the average score for Literature is 6.86; Math is 6.25; English is 5.45; Physics is 6.57; Chemistry is 6.74; Biology is 6.39; History is 6.03; Geography is 6.15. Comparing 2024 with 2023, the average score difference for Literature is 0.39; Math is 0.20; English is 0.06; Physics is 0.10; Chemistry is -0.06; Biology is -0.11; History is 0.54; Geography is 1.04.
Thus, the average scores of Literature, Math, English, Physics, History, and Geography all increased, of which Geography increased the most by 1.04 points. The average scores of Chemistry and Biology in 2024 decreased compared to 2023. Specifically as follows:
Comparing the average scores of the subject groups over the years shows that in 2024, the average scores of groups A00, A01, B00, C00, D01 are 19.80; 18.63; 19.41; 21.01; 19.21, respectively.
Meanwhile, the average scores of these blocks in 2022 for the blocks are 19.56; 18.27; 19.38; 19.04; 18.56 respectively. The difference in scores in 2024 and 2023 for block A00 is 0.24; block A01 is 0.36; block B00 is 0.03; block C00 is 1.97; block D01 is 0.65.
Thus, the average score in 2024 for blocks A00, A01, B00, D01 compared to 2023 has increased but not much. In particular, the average score in 2024 for block C00 compared to 2023 has increased sharply, with 1.97 points. Specifically as follows:
Mr. Phung Quan commented that most of the average scores of the subject groups A00, A01, B00, C00, D01 will increase compared to last year. The majors with the standard scores of the subject groups A01, A01, B00 from last year from 22 to 28 points will increase, the standard scores from 28 and above will increase slightly or remain the same.
The D00 combination benchmark will increase; the benchmark scores of previous years' majors from 21 to 25 points will increase sharply. Majors with benchmark scores from 15 to 21 points last year will not change much, and there may not even be enough candidates for admission.
Mr. Pham Thai Son , Director of Admissions at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, predicts that the benchmark scores for groups such as A00, A01, D00 will be similar to 2023. That is, scores from 25 and above for top universities and top majors of universities. For average top universities, the benchmark scores will range from 20 - 24, the rest will be benchmark scores from 15 - 20.
Mr. Son said that this year's high school graduation exam scores are higher than last year's, but the number of admission quotas based on high school graduation exam scores is also higher than last year. Blocks with Literature, Geography and History will have a standard score 1 - 1.5 higher than in 2023. Accordingly, top schools are expected to have a score of 25 - 26 or higher to be admitted, while most universities have an expected admission score of 21 - 24.
Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan , Head of Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, said that the average score of all groups this year is higher than in 2023, except for group B00, which has decreased slightly. Based on the allocation quota for schools considering graduation exam scores, the standard score of the fields of social sciences and business management (usually recruiting groups C00, D01) may increase by 0.5-1 point.
For the health sector (usually recruiting block B00), many quotas are reserved for considering graduation exam results, the benchmark score may decrease slightly. For the sectors recruiting block A00, A01, the benchmark score may increase, but not significantly.
“The benchmark scores of C00, D01, and D96 may increase slightly. The benchmark scores of B00 may stagnate or decrease slightly. The benchmark scores of A00 and A01 may increase but not significantly,” said Mr. Nhan. Dr. Nhan said that the benchmark scores increased because the entrance exam scores and the proportion of schools considering graduation exam scores were not high.
As for Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, the expected increase in benchmark scores is not much because the school still reserves more than 50% of the total quota for admission based on graduation exams.
How will the university admission scores increase or decrease?
Forecast of many majors of Hanoi University of Science and Technology to have benchmark score above 28
It is predicted that the admission scores in traditional groups will increase.
