In recent days, many teachers working in Buon Don district (Dak Lak) have reported that they have not yet received their long-term allowances, even though the decision to approve the list of beneficiaries was made in October 2024. These teachers are worried that when the district level is no longer there, they will not know which unit will pay this amount.
Specifically, on October 10, 2024, Mr. Pham Trung Nghia, Chairman of Buon Don District People's Committee signed a decision approving the list of 206 people receiving long-term work allowances in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions according to Decree No. 76 dated October 8, 2019.
The People's Committee of Buon Don district also assigned the Finance - Planning Department to advise on the source of payment funds, decide on specific payment levels based on the approved list of subjects; At the same time, assign school principals to coordinate in supplementing and completing necessary documents and implementing payment and settlement of funds to ensure current financial regulations.
The total amount that Buon Don district must pay to more than 206 teachers who have worked for many years in difficult areas is about 8.6 billion VND.

However, nearly 6 months have passed, hundreds of teachers have not received the money. Teacher PXT, working at Luong The Vinh Primary School (Ea Wer Commune) said that at the end of 2024, after the decision to approve the list of beneficiaries of the long-term allowance from the People's Committee of Buon Don District, the school calculated the amount of money for each recipient. Teacher T. himself received more than 50 million VND.
According to Mr. T, at that time, all the teachers on the list were happy because they thought they would receive the money before Tet 2024, and would have a large sum to cover their living expenses. However, they still have not received the money so everyone is worried.
"We know this is a large amount of money so the district needs time to arrange the funding, but the district should find a way to resolve it soon because everyone is looking forward to this money. We are worried, if we do not pay it on time, when the district level is abolished, which unit will be responsible for paying this amount," said Mr. T.
Ms. PTL, a teacher at Son Ca Kindergarten, said that she and many other teachers are worried about whether they will receive this money or not, and if so, when.
"According to calculations, I will receive more than 50 million VND, this is a huge amount of money that will help my family solve many problems. Currently, I and everyone else really hope that the superiors will soon complete the documents and arrange funds to pay the teachers," said Ms. L.
Speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Nguyen Canh Tung, Head of Finance and Planning Department of Buon Don district, said that the number of teachers receiving long-term allowances in difficult areas is very large, so the district has to carefully review each case, leading to delayed payment.
According to Mr. Tung, up to now, the unit has counted more than 200 cases receiving long-term allowances for disadvantaged areas, equivalent to 8.6 billion VND. The least person receives over 15 million VND, the most person receives over 50 million VND.
"We are trying to balance the district budget to pay back allowances to beneficiaries according to regulations. The payment period will be completed before the arrangement of administrative units at all levels and the construction of a 2-level local government organization model," Mr. Tung affirmed.
