As part of the 9th Italian Gastronomy Week in Vietnam, the Street Food Fair "From Fried Rice Balls to Bun Cha: A Journey Between Italy and Vietnam" took place from November 23-24 at the Italian Cultural Center (Casa Italia), offering the opportunity to enjoy unique dishes from both Italy and Vietnam. With the participation of leading restaurants, this is an opportunity to honor the cultural and culinary exchange between the two countries.

Famous Italian and Vietnamese restaurants with long history in Hanoi brought to the event unique street food dishes such as pizza fritta, porchetta, focaccia farcit, panino con salsiccia, shrimp cakes, pho rolls, banh bot loc and of course sweet treats such as famous gelato ice cream and delicious sweet soups from different regions of Vietnam.

Restaurants that have contributed to the success of this year's fair include Gelato Italia, Cugini, Luna d'autunno, La Fiorentina, Mediterraneo, Caffè italia, Dragoncello, Sanzio, Mano and Quan an ngon.

In addition to the delicious food, the event also had many games and interactions with the audience, bringing many interesting gifts from the organizers and restaurants. Especially, there was a lucky draw program to win 2 round-trip tickets from Hanoi to Milan from sponsor Vietnam Airlines.

At the opening ceremony of the culinary fair, Deputy Ambassador of Italy to Vietnam Francesco Arcuri emphasized the desire to promote cooperation and exchange between the two countries - two cultures:

Mr. Francesco Arcuri said: “The Italian Cuisine Week in Vietnam aims to honor the friendship between the two countries, because the cultures have many similarities and aim for a stronger, deeper relationship.

In addition, we also wanted to explore the commonalities between the two countries' cuisines, which is the origin of the name 'From fried rice balls to vermicelli with grilled pork: A journey between Italy and Vietnam', street food represents the culinary culture of the two countries, when both sides enjoy chatting, spending time, walking and enjoying food".

The event featured guest chefs who are experts in the culinary industry such as Mr. Hoang Tung, Co-founder, Head Chef of Å by TUNG and TUNG dining restaurants - in the Top 100 best restaurants in Asia; Madame Binh, Head Chef of Luk Lak restaurant - a restaurant chain honored in the Michelin List 2024; Ms. Tram Tran, Wine Expert Vietnam Best Sommelier 2024 - Manager of Chapter Dining restaurant; Mr. Ngo Thanh Hoa, Head Chef and owner of East by NGO THANH HOA restaurant.

Mr. Ngo Thanh Hoa shared: “The fair was held on a weekend with cool weather, I was very impressed with the bustling and crowded atmosphere today and had a great experience. If I had to choose the best dish here to recommend to everyone, it would be really difficult, because each dish has its own characteristics. I was impressed with the Italian-style hamburger, the meat was added with dill, creating a very unique flavor”.

Launched in 2016, Italian Gastronomy Week is an annual event held worldwide to honor culinary heritage and culture, thereby spreading the values ​​of the identity of the country and people shaped like a boot.

Italian Cuisine Week in Vietnam 2024 also brings a Workshop with the theme "Mediterranean Diet and Vegetable Cuisine: Health and Tradition", emphasizing healthy and sustainable eating models.

The series of events of Italian Cuisine Week 2024 will last until December 8.
