On April 15, at the 16th Session, the People's Council of Dong Nai province passed a resolution on the decision to change the purpose of forest use in Phuoc An commune, Nhon Trach district to the purpose of building Phuoc An bridge.
While the Phuoc An bridge has been built on the Ba Ria - Vung Tau side, the Nhon Trach side is still covered with vast forests.
Dong Nai Provincial People's Council approved the conversion of nearly 3 hectares of protective forest belonging to part of 17 lots, 1 plot, 1 sub-area managed by Long Thanh Protective Forest Management Board (Dong Nai). The purpose of the conversion is to implement the Phuoc An bridge construction project.
Phuoc An Bridge project connecting Nhon Trach district (Dong Nai) with Phu My town (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) has a total length of more than 4.3km with a total investment of nearly 4,900 billion VND.
Phuoc An Bridge started construction in mid-2023 and is expected to be completed and put into operation in the 2021-2025 period. The Ba Ria - Vung Tau province side and the middle of the river have been under construction, and many items have been deployed one after another. As for the Dong Nai bank, due to the incomplete site clearance, construction work has encountered difficulties.
Machines operate continuously, ensuring the progress of the Phuoc An bridge packages on the Ba Ria - Vung Tau side.
Phuoc An Bridge plays an important role in connecting the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway; Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay with Cai Mep - Thi Vai port area. The bridge will help traffic and transport goods from the Mekong Delta and neighboring areas to Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster and vice versa faster, shortening the distance by dozens of kilometers.
When put into operation, Phuoc An Bridge will connect traffic, promote and facilitate socio-economic development in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Nai and the Southeast region. At the same time, it will share and reduce the overloaded traffic volume on Highway 51.
The Phuoc An Bridge construction project has 5 main construction packages, but so far only two packages No. 38 and 39 have been implemented on the Ba Ria - Vung Tau side and have achieved progress as planned. The remaining 3 packages have not been implemented due to lack of land in Dong Nai. It is expected that by June 2024, the site clearance on the Nhon Trach side will be completed to start construction of the remaining packages.
