In recent years, the conversion of crop structure associated with the application of high technology has been actively implemented by local farmers. From there, clean, high-quality agricultural products are created, associated with production linkages. This is considered an inevitable trend, helping agricultural production develop remarkably, thereby changing the agricultural picture of the province.

As one of the localities with potential for agricultural development, Nga Son district is one of the localities with a large production area in greenhouses and net houses with an area of over 43 hectares combined with water-saving irrigation to produce vegetables, tubers, fruits, flowers concentrated in the communes of Nga Giap, Nga Thanh, Nga Bach, Nga Phuong, Nga Trung... the cultivation value reaches from 700 million to 1 billion VND/ha/year.

The district has directed communes and towns to create conditions and support people to accumulate and concentrate land, change crop structure, and replicate models of applying science and technology and high-tech agriculture. In addition, it has actively transferred science and technology, guided people to apply it in practice, created favorable conditions to attract businesses to invest in agriculture, and formed a chain of links from production. According to calculations, many models after conversion have brought in income 2 to 3 times higher than traditional production.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nam in Nga Thach commune said that in 2018, when he had the idea of developing high-tech agriculture, he spent a lot of time researching, learning, visiting, and studying greenhouse production models in the province. Then he decided to rent more than 2 hectares of land for growing peanuts and corn to renovate and grow safe melons, mainly Kim Hoang Hau melon and melon. On the converted area, he invested in building greenhouses and net houses designed to maximize sunlight, minimize the impact of weather and pests; installed a drip irrigation system using Israeli technology to maximize labor costs, and synchronized modern production processes. In addition, the planting and care processes strictly follow clean production methods, and the fertilizers used for the plants are entirely organic microbial fertilizers and biological pesticides for the plants to grow well. From the initial products of cantaloupe and honeydew melon, the farm has now been expanded to 4 hectares to grow flowers, milk grapes, fruit trees, and raise bees...

Identifying the conversion of crop structure associated with the application of high technology as the main and inevitable development direction to enhance the competitiveness of agriculture, towards building sustainable agriculture, localities with potential for agricultural development such as Thieu Hoa, Tho Xuan, Yen Dinh, Dong Son, Thach Thanh, Nhu Xuan... have formed many agricultural production models applying high technology such as Kim Hoang Hau melon, melon, baby cucumber, safe vegetables, flowers... Models of conversion to growing melons and fruit trees produced according to VietGAP and organic standards can bring in annual revenue of 600 million VND/ha or more.

Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nhu Xuan district, Le Tien Dat, said: From the converted area, the district has encouraged and guided people to grow fruit trees with high economic value such as guava, orange, grapefruit, passion fruit, mango... grown according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP standards... in which many areas are linked to production and product consumption with businesses.

In order to effectively transform the crop structure associated with the development of high-tech agriculture, the agricultural sector and localities in the province have been actively selecting new crop varieties suitable for local soil conditions; focusing on forming concentrated, large-scale production areas, linked to market demand. In addition, people are encouraged to build high-tech agricultural models, boldly invest in greenhouses and net houses with modern irrigation systems associated with processing and preservation... At the same time, the agricultural sector also strengthens the transfer of scientific and technological applications and agricultural extension; mechanization, bringing advanced processes into production and processing; promoting the application of VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards in agricultural production. On the other hand, it encourages and creates favorable conditions for enterprises and cooperatives to implement chain linkage models, applying high-tech agriculture to improve production efficiency, increase productivity, quality and competitiveness of products.
