Housing care for people is of interest to all levels of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the province.
Settling down and making a living
Promoting the tradition of "The whole leaves cover the torn leaves, the torn leaves cover the more torn leaves", the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in the province and its member organizations, together with the Party and the State, pay attention to and synchronously deploy solutions to take care of housing for poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households.
In the period of 2019-2024, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels and its member organizations in the province have built nearly 1,500 new houses and repaired hundreds of houses for people facing housing difficulties. The houses handed over and put into use are guaranteed to be solid. Thereby, helping the poor have more motivation to overcome difficulties, "settle down, start a business", and feel secure in developing production.
Mr. Vo Van Don (Hamlet 2, Tan Hiep Commune, Thanh Hoa District) expressed: “For my family, receiving support to build a house is a great joy. The dream of having a new house for almost a lifetime has now come true. Now my family feels secure every time it rains heavily or there is strong wind.”

Promoting the achieved results, striving to have no more temporary and dilapidated houses in the whole province by the end of 2025, following the direction of Prime Minister - Pham Minh Chinh, the Provincial People's Committee launched the emulation movement "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province in 2025".
The movement was launched and implemented from September 2024 and summarized and rewarded at the end of 2025. This is one of the major policies of the Party and State to help the poor escape poverty and stabilize their lives. Thereby, contributing to the good implementation of the Party and State's social security policies and achieving achievements to welcome the 12th Long An Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030.
Joining hands with the province to carry out the emulation movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses , Thanh Hoa district launched the emulation movement and actively reviewed and registered the need to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households in the district in 2024 and 2025. Through the review, the district has 22 poor and near-poor households in need of support to build and repair houses. The district's Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs coordinated to review and advise on the development of a plan in 2024 to support the construction of 13 new houses and the repair of 6 houses; in 2025, to build 3 new houses. The work of mobilizing organizations and individuals to join hands to support was promoted in response to the call of the Prime Minister - Pham Minh Chinh: "Whoever has something to contribute, whoever has merit to contribute, whoever has property to contribute, whoever has a lot to contribute a lot, whoever has little to contribute a little". Thereby, creating a deep, broad, substantial and effective movement.
Deputy Head of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Thanh Hoa district - Nguyen Van Thiet said: "The movement was launched to create a vibrant competitive atmosphere, promote the strength of the entire political system and all classes of people to concentrate all resources to complete the target of eliminating temporary houses, dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households and people affected by natural disasters and climate change who have difficulty with housing, and whose houses are in need of repair or new construction by the end of 2025.
Thereby, contributing to effectively implementing the goal of reducing the rate of multidimensional poverty households; creating a premise to focus on attracting investment, developing the economy, successfully implementing the goals and targets of the Resolution of the District Party Congress for the term 2020-2025".
According to statistics from ministries, branches and localities, currently, the whole country still has about 170,000 poor and near-poor households that are not eligible for support, living in temporary and dilapidated houses. According to statistics from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Long An still has 36 households in need of support to build and repair houses. Their lives are negatively affected by natural disasters and climate change, living in simple, makeshift houses that are not safe or do not have a house. |
Leave no one behind
Along with the concern of mobilizing benefactors to support gifts for the poor, housing care has been carried out by all levels and sectors in Can Duoc district. From the beginning of 2024 to now, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels has supported the construction of 11 new Great Unity houses for people with housing difficulties with an amount of 700 million VND; repairing 14 houses with an amount of 385 million VND.
In recent times, Can Duoc district has always paid attention to housing for the people.
In addition, the district has also mobilized benefactors to support the construction of 23 military-civilian houses of gratitude, charity houses, and trade union shelters for people facing housing difficulties with a total amount of more than 1.4 billion VND. Currently, the locality is making efforts to review households that need support to build and repair houses to implement the emulation movement, contributing to the completion of the task of "eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" in the whole province as well as the whole country in 2025 according to the direction of the superiors.
Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Duoc District - Nguyen Thi Kim Cuong informed: “In order to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations of the district have stepped up propaganda and mobilized union members, association members and people to respond to the emulation movement as well as actively participate in contributing, supporting and helping poor and near-poor households to build new and repair houses. The Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels actively calls on and mobilizes philanthropists to participate in supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in order to maximize the ability to mobilize socialized resources from the community”.

Together with localities and units in the province, Ben Luc district armed forces launched the emulation movement "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025" in the district armed forces on September 18, 2024.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quoc Doanh - Political Commissar of Ben Luc District Military Command, said: Currently, in Ben Luc district, there are no more dilapidated houses. The district's armed forces continue to join hands to eliminate temporary houses with the target of striving to mobilize and contribute to support the construction of houses for poor households and those in difficult circumstances. Strive for each agency and unit in the locality to have a temporary house elimination project, effectively implement the 3 national target programs in the entire army for the period 2021-2025, build new rural areas, reduce poverty quickly and sustainably and carry out well the emulation movement "Ben Luc Armed Forces join hands for the poor, leaving no one behind".
The emulation movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses has created a strong change in the awareness and responsibility of Party committees at all levels, the government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, businesses and the whole society towards poor households, near-poor households and people facing housing difficulties. Thereby, not only promoting the tradition of "The whole leaf covers the torn leaf", "Love others as you love yourself" of our nation but also contributing to reducing the rate of multidimensional poverty as well as successfully implementing the Resolution of the 11th Long An Provincial Party Congress./.
