Electronic Medical Records - The Foundation for Building Digital Hospitals

With its outstanding advantages, electronic medical records are identified as a strategic goal in the digital transformation of the health sector. This is an important step, marking a strong change in management and medical examination and treatment, contributing to improving the quality of medical services and people's satisfaction. Currently, the Vinh Phuc health sector is accelerating the progress of completing the implementation of electronic medical records with data connectivity at all medical examination and treatment facilities (including public and non-public facilities) in the province in August 2025, one month earlier than the target set by the Government.

Thanks to electronic medical records, medical staff do not have to use paper medical records, reducing the time spent writing procedures on paper files. Doctors quickly grasp information about patients and professional exchange information between departments and rooms, helping to increase the efficiency of consultation and treatment.

Tam Duong District Medical Center is the first district-level medical facility in the province to successfully implement electronic medical records. Each patient will be managed by a unique code, helping to store all medical examination and treatment records. Thanks to that, patients do not need to bring documents when going for follow-up examinations, and doctors can access records anywhere.

According to the Department of Health, up to now, Vinh Phuc has completed the implementation of electronic medical records at 3 provincial hospitals, 2 district health centers, and 1 private hospital, marking a strong transformation in management and medical examination and treatment, contributing to improving the quality of medical services and people's satisfaction. In order to continue to complete electronic medical records at the remaining medical facilities (including public and non-public), the Department of Health is continuing to coordinate with suppliers to guide facilities to complete electronic medical records before August 31, 2025, one month earlier than the roadmap set by the Prime Minister.

It can be affirmed that electronic medical records are one of the most important links in the digital transformation process of the healthcare sector, because it is directly related to patients and medical staff. When the implementation of electronic medical records is completed, it will help medical facilities gradually build digital, smart, modern hospitals, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment services, meeting the health care needs of the people.
