
On the afternoon of March 28, at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with President of the Federative Republic of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who is on a state visit to Vietnam.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man warmly welcomed Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the high-ranking Brazilian delegation to pay a State visit to Vietnam; especially appreciated the participation of President of the Brazilian Senate and Congress Davi Samuel Alcolumbre and President of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies Hugo Motta Wanderley in the high-ranking Brazilian delegation to visit Vietnam this time, demonstrating the high level of support of both the Brazilian National Assembly and Government for the friendly relations and strategic partnership between the two countries.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to promote friendly and cooperative relations with Brazil, the first and only country with which Vietnam established a Strategic Partnership framework in the Latin American region in November 2024.
The National Assembly Chairman stated that the Vietnamese National Assembly strongly supports the establishment and concretization of the Vietnam-Brazil Strategic Partnership, deepening cooperation in various fields to meet the development needs and interests of the people of the two countries; at the same time, he wishes to promote relations with the Brazilian National Assembly to contribute to consolidating the foundation of the relationship between the two countries and actively coordinate at regional and international multilateral parliamentary forums of which both countries are members.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated the fact that during the Brazilian President's visit, the two sides signed cooperation documents in the fields of politics - diplomacy, trade - industry, security, sports, especially the Brazilian Government's decision to recognize Vietnam as a market economy.
The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly supports the approval and implementation of cooperation agreements between the two countries, especially in areas with great potential such as defense, agriculture, finance, information and communications, education, health, air transport, semiconductor industry, digital transformation, etc.
Brazilian President Lula da Silva expressed his admiration for the Vietnamese people's history of fighting to protect and build the Fatherland, congratulated Vietnam's achievements in macroeconomic stability and socio-economic development in recent times, and expressed his belief that the Vietnamese National Assembly will continue to effectively perform its role, especially in building and perfecting institutions, contributing to the country's development in all fields, improving people's lives, and consolidating Vietnam's role and position in the region and the world.

President Lula da Silva was pleased to see that, along with the positive development of bilateral relations, the cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Brazilian National Assembly has been strengthened through mutual visits. The two sides have also established a bilateral Parliamentary Friendship Group; he believes that the two Parliamentary Friendship Groups will play a good role as a bridge to strengthen the friendly cooperation between the National Assembly and people of the two countries.
President Lula da Silva also discussed with National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man his views on global issues, emphasizing support for international cooperation and multilateralism, peaceful negotiations to end international conflicts, striving to ensure food security, fight poverty, adapt to climate change, and expand the representation of developing countries in global governance institutions.
Accordingly, President Lula da Silva hopes that the two countries' National Assemblies will continue to strengthen cooperation in issues of mutual concern such as climate change response, poverty reduction, serving the interests and needs of the people of the two countries as well as contributing to the protection of multilateralism in international parliamentary forums.

At the meeting, the two leaders agreed to increase high-level and all-level contacts between senior leaders of the two National Assemblies, between parliamentarians, agencies of the National Assembly, Friendship Parliamentarians' Groups, female parliamentarians, and young parliamentarians, and promote the exchange of professional experience in the fields of legislation, supervision, and decision-making on important national issues.

The two leaders also agreed to continue promoting the role of the two countries' legislative bodies in promoting bilateral relations; supervising and promoting the Government, ministries, sectors, localities and enterprises to actively and effectively implement signed Agreements and Agreements; supporting the business community as well as people of the two countries living, studying, investing and doing business in each country.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully invited President of the Brazilian Senate and Congress Davi Samuel Alcolumbre and President of the Brazilian House of Representatives Hugo Motta to officially visit Vietnam in the coming time.
