Mr. Doan Quoc Viet was born in 1955 in Hanoi. He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, then worked at the Institute of Electrical Engineering Science Research (formerly under the Ministry of Electricity). Here, he researched the application of renewable energy. In 1986, Mr. Viet was sent by the State to do research at Warsaw Polytechnic University (Poland).

In 1989, he started his business in the import-export sector and established BIM Co. Ltd a year later. The company operates in the fields of trade, hotels and restaurants.
