According to the plan, the Vietnamese women's team will leave for China on October 21. Before the departure, the female players are scheduled to play a friendly match with the veteran Thanh Tri team on the afternoon of October 18 so that the coaching staff can review the team one last time and assemble the squad.

Evaluating the recent training process, coach Mai Duc Chung said the team was very lucky to prepare to meet quality opponents. Mr. Chung said: "It's a bit regretful that in this training session, the team's preparation time was not much, only 10 days. But that is also a valuable thing for us. The team was able to compete with a very strong China, ranked many places above us on the FIFA rankings. Uzbekistan is on par with Vietnam."

Vietnam women's team focuses on physical training

During the time the team gathered in Hanoi, the coaching staff mainly focused on training the players' physical strength, alternating between practice matches to practice tactics and line up the team for the competition. "The team still needs to improve a lot, especially in terms of physical strength. We are short in stature and weak in physical strength, so if we want to meet the requirements of the competition, we need to improve our physical strength even more. This time, the team's training time is a bit short because it depends on the players competing in domestic and international tournaments. If there is more training time, I think the players' physical strength will be better and they can ensure better expertise," said coach Mai Duc Chung.

Evaluating the young players called up to the national team, coach Mai Duc Chung commented: "Rejuvenating the team is a journey for all teams to have the next generation. If we don't have a good next generation, the results will obviously not be good. Therefore, we have been doing this for a long time, not just now. But we constantly change, often creating opportunities for different young players to come to the women's team to practice and get acquainted, then maybe we will return and invite others, not fix a few people. Of course, athletes who are playing well will be in the plan to join the national team. That is my training method".

Coach Mai Duc Chung will lead the Vietnamese women's team to play two friendly matches in China, against the host country and Uzbekistan.

One of the veteran players of the Vietnamese women's team, midfielder Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung, said that the team's spirit is currently very comfortable and happy in every training session. Tuyet Dung herself and the whole team feel very excited to be able to compete in the upcoming tournament in China. "China is one of the very strong teams in Asia. The match with host China will help the whole team accumulate more experience. The preparation of the coaching staff for the whole team is currently very good. Due to the very short preparation time, the coaching staff trained the team's physical strength and perfected the team's techniques and tactics. During this time, there will also be some useful friendly matches to prepare for the tournament in the best way", Tuyet Dung shared.
