Hoa Binh Power Company conducts drills to improve skills in handling electrical incidents during the stormy season.

Hoa Binh is a mountainous province with complex terrain, often affected by natural disasters. In particular, the power grid infrastructure suffered a lot of damage due to extreme weather phenomena such as storms, thunderstorms, and lightning. For example, in 2024, heavy rain and thunderstorms caused many power poles to fall. In particular, the impact of storm No. 03 (Yagi) damaged a series of power poles, wires, meters, and stations with a total estimated damage of about 8.6 billion VND. In 2025, in order to limit damage and proactively respond, PC Hoa Binh has deployed safety drills, incident handling, disaster prevention, search and rescue, and information security.

In Lac Son district, PC Hoa Binh has just organized a drill with many simulated situations close to the real situation, such as: lightning strikes causing trees to fall on power lines, causing power outages; landslides at some locations of power poles causing violations of phase-to-ground distance; the impact of whirlwinds, dust has covered the insulation surface of transformer stations, so it is necessary to clean the insulation by high-pressure water washing method.

The simulated grid failure scenarios and the combined situations of performing actual work on the grid have been resolved and handled to ensure absolute safety in the shortest time. Mr. Dang Minh Tuan, team leader of the Hotline Electrical Repair Team (PC Hoa Binh) shared: Every year, the company organizes drills, thereby helping officers and employees practice skills to proactively prevent work accidents. At the same time, improve skills to fix electrical problems as quickly as possible, ensuring absolute safety for people and equipment.

With the nature of the work that has many potential risks of occupational accidents, PC Hoa Binh has focused on improving the ability to respond to and provide first aid for officers and employees. Doctor in charge of medical care at PC Hoa Binh, Vu Thi Tuyet Mai, said: "Electricity workers often work in the field, on power lines, facing high risks of occupational accidents such as falling from heights, being affected by heat, rain and storms. When moving in traffic, they are also at risk of accidents, especially during the rainy and stormy season. Therefore, every year, the company organizes training and tests on first aid skills. At the same time, it issues a plan for first aid for occupational accidents to help workers improve their handling skills when encountering incidents, avoiding serious consequences."

Comrade Nguyen The Hung, Deputy Director of PC Hoa Binh said: According to forecasts, in 2025 there will be many heat waves, storms, the electricity load is expected to increase and the power supply will be difficult, the peak hours may be overloaded. In addition to drills to proactively respond and handle incidents, PC Hoa Binh has been synchronously deploying solutions to provide stable and safe power. Accordingly, the company has developed power supply plans; implemented a load adjustment program (DR); accelerated the progress of investment projects, and grid renovation. Along with that, it has strengthened propaganda to protect the grid corridor and remotely prevented the emergence of points at risk of violating the safety of the grid corridor.
