Officially exploiting 2 more sections of the North Expressway

The Ministry of Transport has just announced that from 10:00 on May 19, the two component projects of Nha Trang - Cam Lam (49km long) and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet (101km long) under the Project to build some expressway sections on the North - South Eastern route in the 2017 - 2020 period will officially be put into operation.

“In the past time, the Project Management Boards, Investors, construction contractors and consulting units together with thousands of officers and employees have upheld the highest sense of responsibility, strived to overcome many difficulties, mobilized all resources, worked “3 shifts, 4 shifts” regardless of day and night, holidays, with the determination to put the 2 Projects into operation on the occasion of May 19.

This is a practical result to celebrate the 133rd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh; in which the Nha Trang - Cam Lam Project has shortened the time to put into operation by 3 months compared to the plan, keeping the commitment of the Investor (Son Hai Group Company Limited) to the Prime Minister", the Ministry of Transport informed.

Regarding the traffic organization plan on the two expressways, based on the temporary traffic organization plan approved by the Ministry of Transport, vehicles will be allowed to travel on the two expressway sections at a maximum speed of 80 km/h and a minimum speed of 60 km/h.

For the Nha Trang - Cam Lam project, vehicles are allowed to operate on the route from the beginning of the project at Km5+783 to the final intersection at Km52+892.

However, in the condition that the next two expressway sections of the project, Van Phong - Nha Trang and Cam Lam - Vinh Hao, have not been opened to traffic, the immediate plan is to organize remote traffic flow on the expressway as follows: In the North - South direction, the above vehicles are allowed to circulate from National Highway 1 to National Highway 27C, enter the expressway at the National Highway 27C intersection (the beginning of the route at Km5+783) to the Cam Ranh intersection at Km52+892 connecting to National Highway 1 via National Highway 27B.

In the immediate future, the project will conditionally put into operation the main route and 2/4 intersections, including the first intersection at Km5+783 connecting with National Highway 27C in Dien Tho commune, Dien Khanh district, Khanh Hoa province and the last intersection at Km52+892 connecting with National Highway 27B in Cam Thinh Tay commune, Cam Ranh city, Khanh Hoa province.

It is planned to arrange a rest stop at Km24 (located on both sides of the highway). Currently, the Ministry of Transport is implementing procedures to select investors according to regulations. For now, the investor has not organized toll collection according to the BOT Contract on this route.

For the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet section component project, vehicles are allowed to operate the route from the beginning of Vinh Hao intersection connecting with the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay section component project to Ho Chi Minh City.

The project has put into operation 5/5 intersections, including: Vinh Hao intersection at Km134+700, Cho Lau intersection at Km162+777.78, Dai Ninh intersection at Km178+655.22, Ma Lam intersection at Km208+701.74, Phan Thiet intersection at Km234+617.56.

Rest stops are planned to be located at Km144+560 and Km205+092 in Binh Thuan province (located on both sides of the highway). The Ministry of Transport is clearing the land and implementing procedures to select investors according to regulations. For now, there is no toll fee for traveling on the route.

To ensure traffic safety during operation, the Ministry of Transport has issued a document requesting the People's Committees of Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces to direct functional units and other relevant units in the localities to increase forces to deploy, coordinate, guide and remind traffic participants to follow the traffic organization plan; strictly handle violations that cause traffic insecurity on the route .
